Winter Scrapbook Borders – Part 2 of 3

KarynCropsWinterBorders - Page 002

Hello!  Today I’m sharing a series of scrapbook borders that I created as a display at my recent Holiday Open House.  I always say that Creative Memories has the best paper crafting tools on the market, and I believe that these borders are excellent proof.  The one tool that I used in all of these borders was our new rotary 12″ Trimmer.  In my over 20 years of scrapbooking, this trimmer is the best that I’ve seen.  It is larger and more sturdy than most and has some handy and unique features.  If you haven’t seen it yet, click here to view a video demonstration.

The borders below offer combinations of some of my more recent favorite stand alone and border punches.

More Seasons Greetings Scrapbook Layouts

I’m back with a few more layouts using the Seasons Greetings Collection from Creative Memories.  This collection has been selling so well that it’s already in low supply and has been moved to the GOING GONE section of the CM website, and unfortunately some are no longer available.  Please order these materials now while they’re still available.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 083

This vintage-inspired collection reminds me of a cross-stitch sampler that my mother hangs in her home during the winter months.  The sampler has a motif similar to the paper above with houses and churches on snow-covered hills with the saying, “Over the hills and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go.”  My layout above features the Rolling Hills Border Maker Cartridge that was so popular that it quickly sold out.  However, CM has ordered more in a limited supply and expects it to be available again later in the winter.  Watch for it’s arrival as it will likely sell out quickly when it returns.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 082

To make my page, cut a piece of the green hounds-tooth paper to 12″ x 4-1/4″ and punch the top edge using the Original Border Maker System with the Rolling Hills Cartridge.  Use the 12″ Decorative Trimmer to cut a swell edge on a strip of 12″ x 3″ house print paper.  Cut two 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ photo mats from the red patterned paper.  I embellished my page with a title sticker adhered with Foam Squares, a bow embellishment, and bells from the Seasons Greetings Laser But Borders.

42852844_10215431110549999_6006610182631587840_n

The Seasons Greetings Laser Cut Borders are an absolute must-have item.  They are exquisitely cut with incredibly fine detail.  Each pack contains one of each of the borders above.  For my layout, I cut apart the row of bells to make the border go further.  I’ll make my layout into a double-page spread and will use the remaining bows on the second page.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 084

My second layout again features the Rolling Hills Border Cartridge and also the Midnight Star Border Cartridge.  These two cartridges pair together so well!  To create this layout, start by cutting out the center of a piece of 12″ x 12″ Red Cardstock to use as the base.  Cut a piece of the cream star paper to 11-1/2″ x 7″ and punch the top edge using the Original Border Maker System with Midnight Star Cartridge.  Cut a piece of Bronze Cardstock to 11-1/2″ x 1-1/4″ and adhere underneath the punched stars.  Adhere this piece to the bottom of your page leaving a 1/4″ border of the Red Cardstock.  Add a 11-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ piece of green hounds-tooth paper to the top part of the page.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 085

Punch the green damask pattered paper with the Border Maker System and Rolling Hills Cartridge and cut off of the paper at 11-1/5″ x 1-3/4″.  Cut a 1/2″ strip of green hounds-tooth paper and layer these two pieces on the bottom of your layout.  I double-matted my photos with Red and Bronze Cardstock and adorned the page with Seasons Greetings Stickers and Embellishments.  From Red Cardstock, I punched two bows using the new Embossed Bow Punch and added detail to the embossed parts using a Gold Dual-Tip Pen.  I adhered the bows to the tops of my photos with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 086

A piece of wood-patterned paper from the CM Timber Paper Pack is the base of the layout above.  (I love to mix the Timber Paper with all of our other collections!)   You can create my fun window effect by using a frame from the Seasons Greetings Embellishments, a Variety Mat as the background sky, and snow white hills punched with the Rolling Hills Border Maker Cartridge.  Cut the beard from the Santa sticker and adhere it to the window frame using Foam Squares and add a few word title stickers.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetingsLayouts - Page 087

I adhered the Christmas lights laser cut border in three places behind the popped up bow punch-outs.  This gives the lights the look of being strung and hanging across the page.  I cut a Variety Mat into strips to use behind my photos and another Variety Mat as my journaling box.  I added stickers with Foam Squares to the bottom of the layout and cut my photos to fit.

KarynCropsSeasonsGreetings

You may have already seen my last layout as I shared it last week at Creative Life Scrapbooking on Facebook.  This layout is made of three strips from the Seasons Greetings Paper Pack. The top strip is 11-1/2″ wide and punched with the Original Border Maker with the Garland Cartridge and cut off at 1″. The middle strip is 11-1/2″ x 4-1/2″, and the bottom strip is 11-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and punched again with the Border Maker with Garland Cartridge. (The Garland Cartridge is currently sold out but will be returning to the CM Product Line later this winter. When it returns, it will be in limited quantity – so plan to purchase it quickly.)

47235775_1103225893186788_2075958586957103104_o

I matted my title mat and photos with 6-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ mats cut from Bronze Cardstock. I also adhered 1/4″ strips of Bronze Cardstock over the seams of the paper strips and adhered the cardinal and poinsettia stickers with Foam Squares.

Please purchase the Seasons Greetings items now as they are in limited supply.  Orders placed on my website through noon on December 14th will have a chance to win a GOLDEN TICKET Prize!

All of my best wishes for a very Merry Christmas season!

Seasons Greetings 1-2-3 Page Layouts

The time from Thanksgiving through New Year’s blends into one long holiday-celebrating season for me!  Over the past 17 years, holding my annual Creative Memories Holiday Open House has become one of my favorite holiday traditions.  I love opening my home to my loyal scrapbooking friends and showering them with special offers, make-n-takes, and holiday scrapbooking inspiration!

My very talented friend, Noreen Smith, graciously shared her new 1-2-3 Page Sketch with me, and I offered the layouts below as a workshop option at my Holiday Open House last weekend.  And I’m so excited today to be posting my blog in tandem with Noreen!  Please visit Noreen’s blog, Organized and Creative Mom to see her page sketch with cutting guide to make these layouts.

KarynCropsWordpressSeasonsGreetings123-1

For the past 2-1/2 years, I’ve been hosting an almost monthly Crop Club where we use one of Noreen’s wonderful 1-2-3 Page Sketches, one pack of paper and one pack of stickers or embellishments to make 3 double-page layouts. Sometimes I’ll add a sheet or two or three of solid cardstock if needed, and I also try to incorporate the newest CM tools. If you search my blog, you’ll find a few examples of some of the layouts that we’ve created in the past.  If you would like to join my Crop Club via long-distance, just send me an email and I’m glad to mail the materials to you.

KarynCropsWordpressSeasonsGreetings123-2

I was so excited to play with Noreen’s new sketch that focuses on large triangles to make beautiful Christmas trees!  As with all of her 1-2-3 Sketches, this was quick and easy to cut and assemble.  I used the new Seasons Greetings Paper and Stickers from Creative Memories and was quite pleased with my results. I love the warm and cozy retro Christmas aesthetic of the new Seasons Greetings materials!

KarynCropsWordpressSeasonsGreetings123-3

In addition to the Seasons Greetings paper and stickers, I used red and bronze cardstock for the bows that adorn the tops of my trees. I punched the bows with the new Embossed Bow Punch from CM and adhered the bows with Foam Squares.  I also adhered most of the stickers with Foam Squares and also the center photo mat on the layout above.  I love how Foam Squares add extra dimension and pop to our pages!

I had these layouts on display at my Holiday Open House and almost everyone who attended loved the pages and ended up purchasing the materials.  I hope that you love them too!  Please visit Noreen at Organized and Creative Mom for a copy of the 1-2-3 Sketch and Cutting Guide.

And if you’re in the U.S. and would like to purchase any of the tools or materials that I used, please visit my CM website.  If you order now through noon on November 30th, you can take advantage of the great Black Friday/Cyber Monday Promo that Creative Memories is offering.  Please note that the freebies are available while supplies last, so please order sooner than later.   Click here to order.

Sugarplum Christmas Scrapbook Layouts

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and visions of the new Sugarplum Collection from Creative Memories are dancing in my head!  The new Sugarplum Collection is full of sweet pastel prints and the most delightful Christmas stickers and embellishments.  Although the papers, stickers and embellishments are perfect for cute and whimsical scrapbook pages, I also used the materials to make a few elegant holiday pages as well.

Fancy ornaments, a classic border, and shades of gold and purple give my first layout an elegant feel.  This layout is the perfect way to highlight a Christmas collection.  I used my home printer to print a sheet of twenty 2″ x 2″ photos of my Precious Moments ornament collection.  Although this only a portion of my collection, I love how the ornaments are showcased on a double-page spread instead of spread out over numerous scrapbook pages.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarplumOrnaments

I embellished the page with ornament die cuts from the Sugarplum Embellishments and used CM’s Custom Cutting System with Gemstone Cutting Patterns to make additional ornaments.  To make my ornaments, cut two diamonds from Gold Shimmer Cardstock using the blue blade on the inside edge of the diamond cutting pattern.  Use the green blade on the inside edge to cut one diamond from the Gold Shimmer Cardstock.  Cut two diamonds from Eggplant Cardstock using the green blade on the inside edge and one diamond using the red blade on the inside edge.  Mat the gold diamonds on top of the eggplant diamonds.  Use your 12″ Decorative Trimmer and Original Border Maker with Zig Zag and Snowflake Chain Border Maker Cartridges to cut and punch pieces from the Sugarplum Designer Paper and Gold Shimmer Cardstock to decorate your ornaments.

To finish the page, cut a 1″ x 12″ strip from the gold print paper and adhere to the left side of one sheet of the lilac print paper.  From the gold print paper, cut a 4-1/4″ x 12″ piece and adhere to the right side of the second sheet of lilac print paper.  Rub your Gold Metallic Pen around the edges of the ornament die cut embellishments and adhere those pieces with Foam Squares and adorn with Rhinestone Gems.  The title is cut from a sheet of the Sugarplum Designer Paper and matted with Gold Shimmer Cardstock.  The border at the top of the page was punched with our new Holly Border Punch from Eggplant Cardstock and also adhered with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressOrnaments2

My second layout features another of my Christmas collections, my Department 56 North Pole Village.  The addition of Navy and Gold Shimmer Cardstock really helped to make these pages pop.  Use the 12″ Decorative Trimmer to cut a wavy edge on a piece of 11-1/2″ x 6-1/4″” White Cardstock.  Cut the aqua print paper to 11-1/2″ x 6″, and adhere both pieces to 12″ x 12″ Navy Cardstock.  Cut additional swell and wave pieces from White Cardstock using the 12″ Decorative Trimmer and edge the pieces with swell and wave pieces cut from the aqua print paper to create snow drifts for the bottom of the page.  Repeat for second page.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarPlum - Page 053

I used scraps of the Sugarplum Designer Paper to hand cut and create small houses.  I adorned the eaves of the roofs with pieces punched with the Original Border Maker with the Crown and Scallop Dot Border Maker Cartridges.  And I used the Heart Chain Border Maker Cartridge to punch the heart pieces.  CM’s new Precision Point Adhesive Pen came in handy for adhering all of the small pieces.  I edged all of the house pieces with Gold Shimmer Cardstock to give them more definition.  I used some of the Sugarplum Stickers as further decoration for my houses and the pages.  I matted the title stickers with Gold Shimmer Cardstock and my photos and journaling box with Navy Cardstock.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarplumSingle - Page 068

My next layout is a quick and easy two-page spread.  From Peacock Cardstock punch a fence using CM’s Victorian Fence Punch.   Cut the fence off of your cardstock at 3-1/8″ to make a 12″ x  3-1/8″ piece.  Repeat.  Cut the Santa border strips from Sugarplum Designer Paper and adhere to your borders.  For your top borders, cut the tree border strips from the designer paper and mat with Peacock Cardstock.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarPlum - Page 051

Mat your photos, title, and journaling boxes with Peacock Cardstock.  My photos measure 4″ x 3-1/4″.  I used CM’s Pastel Pink ABC Stickers for my title.  (Get these before they’re sold out as they are in the Going Gone section of our website.)  Finish the pages by adding trees and the reindeer and moose from the Sugarplum Embellishments pack.  I adhered the deer and moose with Foam Squares and added Rhinestone Gems to my trees.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarplumNaughtyNice - Page 066
The layout above is an elegant single page.  Again I used our Gold Shimmer Cardstock to brighten the page and give it more definition.  Cut a piece of the poinsettia/holly paper to 9-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ and adhere to a sheet of 12″ x 12″ Peacock Cardstock.  (To conserve cardstock, cut out the center of the Peacock Cardstock.)

To make a double frame, cut a piece of White Cardtock to 11″ x 11″.  Measure 1″ from each side of each corner and make a small mark with a pencil.  Use your 12″ Trimmer to cut out a frame starting and stopping at your pencil marks.  You will do the same from a sheet of Gold Shimmer Cardstock, but first cut the gold piece to 11-1/4″ x 11-1/4″ and measure 1-1/4″ from each side.  Adhere the white piece onto of the gold piece and use your Gold Metallic Pen to add dots around the white piece as shown.

Use the large die cut piece from the Sugarplum Embellishments in the top left corner and add a poinsettia punched with CM’s new Poinsettia Punch and a piece of holly punched with the Holly Border Punch.  I used my Gold Metallic Pen to highlight the edges of the embellishment piece and also all of the title stickers.  My photos are cropped to  5″ x 4″ and matted thinly with Gold Metallic Cardstock.

KarynCropsWordpressSugarplumNaughtyNice - Page 067

My last layout is another single page and features the Sugarplum Stickers.  Cut a piece of the pink dot paper to 11″ x 11″ and adhere to top of the striped paper.  (To conserve paper, cut out the center of the striped paper first.)  Mat photos with striped paper.  My photos measure 4″ x 5″ and 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ and my mats are 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and 4″ x 4″.

Adhere pieces of sticker strips to aqua print paper and mat with white cardstock.  Adhere pieces with Foam Squares to resemble a Christmas Tree.  The presents are pieces cut from a sticker strip and adhered with Foam Squares.  The tree trunk is a candy cane sticker.  The tree topper, the title, and the stockings and candy cane in the banner are also stickers that are adhered with Foam Squares.  To finish your page, add faux pen stitching around the edge of the pink dot paper.

Thanks so much for visiting with me, and I hope that you like my Sugarplum pages!  All of the tools and materials used can be purchased on my Creative Memories website.

I wish all of you a beautiful holiday season filled with memorable moments and a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Past Crop Club

watermarks-page-003

I hold a monthly Crop Club where we gather to make 3 double-page layouts using one page sketch, one pack of paper and one pack of embellishments.  Attendees only bring a few basic tools, and I provide CM’s newest tools for everyone to try.

In November, we made pages using our new Creative Memories Christmas Past Paper and Embellishments and the page sketch below by my friend, Noreen Smith.  You can download this sketch with instructions and also view a video demonstration on Noreen’s Blog, Organized & Creative Mom.

cropclub7christmaspastsketch

This sketch made a super cute Halloween page and also beautiful Christmas pages.  I incorporated our Garden Vine Punch and our new Snowflake Chain Cartridge for our Border Maker System on the layout below.  I also added a photo mat from Beige Cardstock to the first page in order to have some of the beige color on both pages.  It’s hard to see in the photo, but I did pen stitching around the reindeer embellishment to make it pop.  I skipped journaling on these pages, but will add journaling to the next layouts.

2-page-watermarks-page-003

On the pages below, I added photo mats and narrow strips from our Gold Shimmer Cardstock.  I made the photo mat on the second page into a ribbon.

2-page-watermarks-page-004

On the layout below, I added some leave embellishments punched from our Silver Shimmer Cardstock with our Maple Leaf and Leaf Trio Punches.  These silver shimmer pieces really help to brighten up these pages.

2-page-watermarks-page-002

Please contact me or visit my CM website to purchase any of these products.  We’re taking a break from Crop Club in December, but will start back up in January.  Please contact me if you’re in the Champaign-Urbana area and would like to join us.

Cheers!

Christmas Blog Hop

watermarks-page-002

Welcome to our Christmas Blog Hop!  Six Creative Memories Advisors from North America have joined together to provide you with ideas and inspiration for your Christmas paper crafting.  At the bottom of my blog post, you’ll find links to take you to the next stops on our Blog Hop.  Be sure to visit all of the sites and leave comments for us!

For my project, I created a 2-page scrapbook layout using some items from the new Creative Memories Christmas Past Collection.  I also used several of our newest tools to create the lush layered border and embellishments.  Our new Gold Shimmer Cardstock provides an extra touch of elegance and decadence for these pages.

my-joy-2-page

I created the gorgeous trailing vine border across the tops of the pages with our Garden Vine Punch.  This punch immediately sold out when it was first introduced in October.  It’s back in stock but only available while supplies last.  So I suggest purchasing this punch sooner than later.

watermarks-page-002

I also incorporated a new take on the faux Maple Leaf Punch poinsettias that I first created for the Creative Memories Blog post, Christmas in July.  These new poinsettias are white and include layered greenery punched from our Leaf Trio Punch.  (Below is a peak at my first poinsettia border.  Please visit the CM Blog to see the full blog post with instructions.)

O’ Tannenbaum

Today I’m sharing the first of several layouts that I’ve created with the new Christmas Past Collection from Creative Memories.  The Christmas Past Paper Pack contains 12 sheets of designer print paper that is double-sided with 24 unique prints.  Since the pack only contains one sheet of the woodland print paper, I used a mat from the Christmas Past Variety Mat Pack to continue the print on the second page.

tannebaum2page

I also used several of our newest tools to create these pages.  The border across the top was punched from our new Silver Shimmer Cardstock with our Original Border Maker System and new Snowflake Chain Border Maker Cartridge.  The border at the bottom of the pages was created with our Leaf Trio Punch.

tannenbaum4

I created the large Christmas Tree using the Grass Border Maker Cartridge of our Original Border Maker System, and the star on top was punched with our Shooting Star Punch.  The small snowflake accents were punched with our new Christmas Quartet Punch.  The beautiful die cut is from the Christmas Past Embellishments.

To make these pages, you’ll need:

Christmas Past Paper Pack
Christmas Past Embellishments
Christmas Past Slide-In Pack
Evergreen Cardstock
Silver Shimmer Cardstock
Ruby ABC/123 Stickers
Foam Squares
Tape Runner
Silver Pen
12-Inch Straight Trimmer
Original Border Maker System with Grass and Snowflake Chain Cartridges
Leaf Trio Punch
Shooting Star Punch
Christmas Quartet Punch
All-Purpose Scissors
Small Hole Punch
To purchase any of these items, please visit my website.

Instructions:

  1.  From Silver Shimmer Cardstock, punch two borders using the Border Maker with Snowflake Chain Cartridge.  Adhere borders to tops of pages using Foam Squares.
  2.  From Evergreen Cardstock, punch fern pieces using Leaf Trio Punch.  Adhere across the bottoms of the pages as shown and accent with dots punched from red designer paper.

To Finish the Page on the Left:

  1. Add title with Ruby ABC/123 Stickers.
  2. Cut a 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ piece from the red plaid designer paper.  Cut a 6-1/16″ x 4-1/16″ piece from the Evergreen Cardstock.  Adhere the green piece onto the red plaid piece, add a photo, and adhere to page.
  3. Using the Original Border Maker System and Grass Cartridge, punch a border from Evergreen Cardstock and cut border off of cardstock at 2″.  Repeat.  From the borders, use All-Purpose Scissors to cut five pieces with diagonal edges.  For my tree, three pieces are 3-1/2″ wide, one piece is 2-1/2″ wide and the top piece is 2″ wide.  Use Silver Pen to outline grass edges.  Assemble tree as shown onto page.  From Silver Shimmer Cardstock, punch a star using the Shooting Star Punch.  Adhere star with foam squares.
  4. Adhere die cut embellishment with Foam Squares and embellish with silver shimmer snowflakes punched with the Christmas Quartet Punch.

To Finish the Page on the Right:

  1. From the red plaid designer paper cut an 11-2/8″ x 6-2/8″ piece, and from the Evergreen Cardstock cut a 10-12/16″ x 5-5/8″ piece.  Adhere the green piece to the red plaid piece and trim photos to fit onto the mat.
  2. Cut a  6-1/2″ x 1/2″ piece from the top of the woodland variety mat.  Assemble these pieces and the photo as shown.  Embellish with additional fern punch-outs and a rhinestone embellishment.

Here’s a cute border idea that I adapted from our CM Blog using our Christmas Joy Paper and Stickers and our Border Maker with the Picket Fence and Evergreen Cartridges.  For more border ideas using the Christmas Joy Paper and Stickers – most are quick and easy – please contact me, and I’m happy to email five more pages of instructions to you.

Christmas Joy Borders

Christmas Joy!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my Annual Holiday Open House this past Saturday!  It was such a fun day, and it was so good to see so many of you.  I really appreciate your support of my business.  The door prize winners were:  Sherrill H., Mary L., Sue V., and Amy D.

For those of you who missed it, here are the sample pages that I made for the Open House.  I used our new Christmas Joy Paper Pack, Stickers and Slide-In Pack along with our new Diamond Scroll, Medallion Frame Chain and Evergreen Border Maker Cartridges on these pages.  For more ideas using these items, please visit the CM Blog that you can access from the homepage of my CM site.

If you would like to include any of these items – or others – on a Christmas Wish List, just email me a list of the items that you would like to receive and the names and contact info for your husband, boyfriend, mother, mother-in-law, sister, children, friend.  I’ll do the ordering and even the gift wrapping!  Don’t forget to include my February 19th-21st Camp Crop-A-Lot Weekend Scrapbooking Retreat ($150) or my January 23rd All-Day Workshop ($35) on your list.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to receive the gift of an entire day or entire weekend of scrapbooking?

Christmas Joy 1

The page on the left features the new Medallion Frame Chain Border Maker Cartridge.  To make the tree on the right, create a tree template on a piece of scratch paper.  Use your selected photos to determine the width of the tree.  Using the template, cut the green paper to make the tree.  Use the template to trace cut marks on your photos, or tape your photos to the template and cut to shape.  The red garland on the tree are cutout pieces from the Diamond Scroll Border Maker Cartridge.  Embellish with Christmas Joy Stickers.  I adhered the Merry Christmas and  Naughty or Nice stickers and the star with Foam Square Adhesives.

Christmas Joy 2

I used both the Medallion Frame Chain and Diamond Scroll Border Maker Cartridges on these pages.  The bows on the tops of the trees are cutout pieces from the Diamond Scroll Border Maker Cartridge.  I adhered the Wish List title and the white circle photo frame with Foam Square Adhesives.

Christmas Joy 3

The row of houses is from one of the sheets of paper in the Christmas Joy Paper Pack.  The fence is made with the Picket Fence Border Maker Cartridge and the trees are made with the Evergreen Border Maker Cartridge.  Add torn white cardstock for the snow in-between the fence and the trees.  This idea is adapted from the CM Blog.

Christmas Joy 5

The roof-top is made with the Film Strip Border Maker Cartridge and a strip of red striped paper.  Thread the red paper strip through the film strip border piece  going in and out every two spaces.  Cut a 2×2 square from the red paper and use the cut-out pieces from the Film Strip border to make the bricks.  Punch a Picket Fence border and cut off most of the border to make the top of the chimney.  Use Foam Square Adhesives to adhere chimney to add depth.  Embellish with Christmas Joy Stickers.  This idea is from the CM Blog.

Christmas Joy 4

I used both the Medallion Frame Chain and Diamond Scroll Border Maker Cartridges on these pages.  The green scallops are 2″ circles punched with our Shape Maker and cut in half.
