Archiver’s Hexagon Layout

Hello!  Today I’m sharing a layout that I made from elongated hexagon shapes and the Archiver’s Collection from Creative Memories.  Although this collection was designed as a heritage collection, it’s also great for almost any other kind of photos.  I like how it provides a soft subtle background for my photo.

To make my page, cut 10 pieces of designer print paper into 4″ x 6″ rectangles.  Measure and mark the tops of each piece at 2″.

Position paper on the Creative Memories 12″ Straight Trimmer with the 2″ mark on the cutting groove and the top edge of the paper on the 60 degree angle mark.  Cut.  When you measure and cut your pieces, try to be as precise as possible.  You’ll notice on my page that a few of my pieces did not line up exactly.  This was probably due to my measurement or cut being off just a smidgen.

Flip the paper over to the backside and repeat the cut.  Cut tops and bottoms of two pieces and just one end of the other pieces.  Cut photo(s) in the same manner.

Cut 1/8″ off of each side of each paper piece and photo.

Arrange pieces on coordinating or contrasting cardstock leaving between 1/8″ – 1/4″ between pieces and from the left and right sides of the cardstock.  I ran the pieces on the top and bottom of my page over the edge and cut flush with the cardstock.  But you could leave a border of cardstock on the top and bottom as I did for my left and right sides.  I suggest laying out all of your pieces first before you start to adhere.

You could also include more than one photo on your page or duplicate the page to make a double-page layout with more photos.

You’ll notice that I arranged the row with my photo about two-thirds of the way down verses in the center of the page.  I also spread out the paper colors and patterns and placed pieces with larger more graphic prints away from my photo so as not to compete with the photo.  I included journaling on a piece with a subtle print.

I embellished my page with the Archiver’s Laser Borders and Archivers Stickers for the date.  The title is from the Everyday Sentiments Embellishments.  (I love how items from different collections in the Creative Memories product line coordinate with each other!)  And lastly, I added a few flowers that I created with the new Daisy Bouquet Punch and adhered with Foam Squares.

You may purchase the products and tools that I used on my Creative Memories website.

Happy Scrapping!
