I hold three weekend scrapbooking retreats a year. My February and October retreats are inclusive 3- or 4-day weekends held at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Center in Monticello, Illinois. For my June retreat, you have the option of sleeping at the hotel or sleeping at your home. In June, there is also a single day option.
The retreats are designed as a relaxing get-away with hotel accommodations, the opportunity for an optional massage, and meals provided by a caterer. On Fridays and Saturdays, we enjoy an optional “Wine & Cheese Happy Hour” before dinner. The minimum age to attend a retreat is 15. Other Creative Memories advisors and other types of crafters may attend only if there is space available. Scrapbookers get first preference.
Scrapbooking: You will have use of your own 6 foot scrapping table for the weekend. We securely lock the scrapping room at midnight on Thursday and 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and reopen the room at 7:00 a.m. the following mornings. I provide demos of new tools and techniques and offer optional page-making classes. Creative Memories supplies are available to purchase, and I provide a large display of sample layouts. An Ambassador with Forever will be available to assist with online photo storage, media conversion and digital scrapbooking.
Accommodations: Rooms have two queen beds with mini refrigerators and microwaves. We sleep two per room and try to make compatible pairings if you do not indicate a preferred roommate. Single rooms are available for an additional charge. The hotel provides breakfast each morning and has an indoor heated swimming pool and a peaceful outdoor deck area. The hotel also provides free WiFi.
Cost: The fee for the October and February retreats is $165 for 3 days or $225 for 4 days (additional fees for optional massage and/or single rooms). The fee for the June retreat ranges from $45-$330 depending upon the option that you select. I enjoy these retreats so much myself and intentionally keep the fee as affordable as possible.
Dates: My 2020 retreats are: February 20th-23rd, June 4th-7th (Please note that our June retreat has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.), October 22nd-25th. Please contact me for a registration form or click here to register.
Out of an abundance of caution, I have not been holding in-person events during the Covid-19 Pandemic. But I have been holding a variety of virtual events! Two to three times each month, I’ve been holding Virtual Crop Club sessions on Zoom where we make a layout or two together. (Please see my Facebook group, Karyn’s Croppers, for info. I’ve also held all-day virtual workshops and virtual weekend retreats. I’ve replaced our October 22nd-25th Camp Crop-A-Lot Weekend Retreat with a virtual event. (Please see below.) I hope that you can join us for the fun! Please know that I miss scrapping with all of you, and I’ll again be holding in-person events as soon as I feel safe to do so.
Virtual Croptoberfest Retreat
October 23rd – 25th
This virtual event will include all of the things that you love about our in-person retreats! We’ll have tool demos, page classes, sale items that you can purchase, challenges, door prizes, fun and games, lots of inspiration and time to scrapbook and also the opportunity to Scrap & Chat with your cropping buddies! I’ll be creating a private Facebook group for the event where I’ll share all info and videos. We’ll use Zoom for the page classes and Scrap & Chat sessions. All classes will be recorded and posted to view at your leisure. The fee to participate is $25. (You’ll also want to purchase the Croptoberfest Bundle in order to make my layouts during our page classes.)
Please use my Pay Pal link to pay your $25 fee.
Julie G. I enjoy the retreats so much! I don’t have a chance to scrap very often at home, so these retreats are the perfect opportunity to work on projects, see old and new friends, and have a chance to see and purchase new CM products. No cooking, no cleaning, just fun!
Cheryl G. I am so glad that Karyn got me started with memory books! The workshops, picture parties, and retreats she organizes always include great products, fun people, personal attention (helping and teaching) from Karyn, and are a great get-a-way. I always look forward to the retreats!
Sherrill H. I absolutely love scrapbooking! I’m so glad that I met Karyn and was introduced to the scrap weekends. I love the fellowship of other scrappers. I’ve met so many friends. Karyn always has a lot of supplies in case you forgot that one container at home. I’d recommend these weekends to anyone. Oh, and the ideas you take from these weekends whether it be scrapbooking, recipes, ways to get organized – I just love it all!
