For my monthly Technique Layout & Challenge, I’m sharing two versions with a quilted log cabin heart design. l love this design for both Thanksgiving and Christmas layouts, but it will be great with any type of layout and collection. Just follow my cutting guide to cut strips and adhere them in a heart pattern.

For my first layout, I used the 12-Inch Trimmer and Autumn Cottage Collection from Creative Memories. This collection is sold out with Creative Memories, but many advisors have some in their inventories. I started by cutting a 1″ hollow frame from the brown/teal plaid paper and adhering a 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″ piece of Bright White Cardstock. The center strip is 12″ x 4″, and the wood paper squares are 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″. My photos mats are 4″ x 4-1/2″ and 3″ x 3″. I used a Brown Dual-Tip Pen to add faux stitching to my hearts and layout as shown. The small plaid prints on the Autumn Cottage Variety mats were the perfect scale for my hearts. Please see the diagram below for the sizes of the strips for the hearts.

I used the same measurements and technique for my second layout. For this page, I used the Christmas Charm Collection, Bright White Cardstock, and a Black Dual-Tip Pen all from Creative Memories. The Christmas Charm Paper is momentarily sold out but will be back in stock soon.
