Today I’m sharing some new versions of a layout that I first created for the Creative Memories Blog last year. My original layout featured the Diagonal Plaid Border Punch and Blue & Gold Collection. I created a similar version for myself using these same supplies and also two new versions of the layout.
The Diagonal Plaid Border Punch and Blue & Gold Collection were exclusive items from CM’s Black Friday Promotion last year. CM recently released the Diagonal Plaid Border Punch for purchase during December Deals, and it quickly sold out.
Creative Memories is currently running a December Deals offering of discounted and exclusive items for sale. New items will be added to December Deals at noon CT on December 9th and 12th, so make sure to check out our website often for new exclusive items and new discounted items. Please note that some items sell out quickly.
I used our Polar Lights winter collection, new Baby Blue Cardstock, and the Rainbow Ripple Border Punch to create my second layout using the same technique. You’ll find the Rainbow Ripple Border Punch in December Deals. It’s an exclusive item that is now available.
For my third version of this layout, I used the Totally Tonal Christmas Paper and a combination of the Diagonal Plaid and Rainbow Ripple Border Punches. To create this layout, use a sheet of White Cardstock as your base. Cut (3) 12″ x 3″ strips from three different papers and adhere to the center of the layout. Use the Diagonal Plaid and Rainbow Ripple Border Punches to punch three borders from Cranberry Cardstock and adhere to the bottoms of the strips. Cut (2) 12″ x 1/4″ strips from Cranberry Cardstock and adhere to the top and bottom of the striped panel. Add photos, embellishments/stickers and a journaling box.
Please see my YouTube channel for a video demonstration and some scrapbooking tips. (Make sure to subscribe!)
Please use this technique to create a layout and share it in my Album in Karyn’s Croppers on Facebook for an entry into my December Door Prize Drawing!
Don’t forget to add some Creative Memories items to your Christmas Wish List this year! I would love to help your friends and family shop for you. I also offer Gift Certificates that can be used to shop through my CM website link. Please contact me for info.
If you love my layouts, you might be interested in some up-coming events of mine.
For my November Technique Challenge and Layout, I used a layout that I created for the Creative Memories Blog back in September. It’s an easy quilt technique that results in a great scrapbook page that can look different depending upon the materials that you use.
Below is the layout that I created for Creative Memories. I used the Shades of Polar Lights Paper and Polar Lights Embellishments for this layout. For written instructions, please see the CM Blog.
I used the same technique to create a new layout using the Party Time Collection from Creative Memories. I love how this looks and know that I will use it again to create more layouts. For a video demo, please see my YouTube channel.
I would LOVE to see your version of this layout! Please use the technique to create a layout and share your photo in my Facebook group for an entry into my November Door Prize Drawing. It’s going to be great to see many different versions of this layout created with many different materials!

Spooky!
I used the Original Border Maker System with the Home Sweet Home Border Maker Cartridge to create a spooky layout and a sweet layout. Below is my spooky cute Halloween layout that I created with the Happy Hauntings Collection from CM and shared with Creative Life Scrapbooking today.
I used CM’s Original Border Maker System with the new Bats & Stars, Home Sweet Home and Ghost Chain (retired) Border Maker Cartridges to create a spooky street border for the top of the layout. I added some fun shadows and cobwebs with our White Chalk Pen. Further down the page, I used the new Spider Web Frame Punch to create individual spider webs to adorn the layout. For step-by-step instructions, please see my original Facebook post.
Sweet!
A few weeks ago, I created this super sweet layout using the Original Border Maker System and Home Sweet Home Border Maker Cartridge and also shared it with Creative Life Scrapbooking.
I used the housing unit of the Original Border Maker System as a hand-held punch and punched around the outside edge of circle. The houses came to life with a little work with a Micro-Tip Black Pen. I added a few other pieces from a variety of CM punches and border maker cartridges to create a super sweet street scene.
If you would like to purchase any of the tools or materials that I used for these layouts, I would appreciate your orders through my Creative Memories website. I also offer a generous Customer Rewards Program.
Today I’m sharing two layouts that I created with the Maple Leaf Recipe Template from Creative Memories. The recipe templates are so versatile and can be used to create many different patterns and layouts. For my layouts, I selected not to use the diagonal sections around the outside of the template but rather just the center leaf.
For my first layout, I used the Croptoberfest 2022 Project Recipe Kit and 2022 Croptoberfest Mini Pack Embellishments. If you love these materials, please consider joining me for my Virtual Croptoberfest Workshop on October 15th. We’ll be live on Zoom, but the page classes will be recorded, and I’ll provide printable handouts for the 6 exclusive original layouts that I’ve designed for this event. Please click here to register now.
I used the Maple Leaf Recipe Template to trace my large leaves, and I used the Custom Cutting System with Oval Patterns to create my fun acorns. I used the Pure Brown Dual-Tip Pen to ink the edges of all of the paper pieces of this layout.
For detailed instructions and a step-by-step demonstration on how to create the acorns and this layout, please view my video on YouTube.
Please share your version of this layout to my Facebook group, Karyn’s Croppers for an entry into my October Door Prize.
I created and shared my second layout with Creative Life Scrapbooking on Facebook. For this layout, I used the Maple Leaf Recipe Template and the new Golden Harvest Collection from Creative Memories. This is a gorgeous fall collection with beautiful, foiled embellishments and fun layered border embellishments. For instructions to create this layout, please see my original post to Creative Life Scrapbooking.
All of the tools and materials that I used are available to purchase through my Creative Memories website link. I appreciate all of your orders and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program.
Today I’m revisiting an old layout that I shared here a few years ago. I’ve created a demonstration video, and I’m using this technique for my monthly Technique Tuesday layout and challenge. I challenge all of you to use this technique to create a layout and share a photo of your layout into my #TechniqueTue 30 Album in Karyn’s Croppers on Facebook.
For this layout, I used the lovely Serene Waters Collection and paired it with Dark Sea Green Cardstock. I used the 12″ Decorative Trimmer to cut my photos and paper pieces and added border pieces that I punched with the Friendly Fish Border Punch. I finished the layout by adding some stickers, embellishments and pen details. All tools and materials are from Creative Memories.
Now is a great time to make a purchase as Creative Memories is offering FREE SHIPPING on orders of $80US until noon CT on September 9th.
To create my layout, you’ll need:

I used the Wanderlust Collection and the Original Border Maker System with the Chevron Arrows Border Maker Cartridge and the Custom Cutting System with the Jumbo Circle Pattern to create the layout above. There are some great sheets of paper in the Wanderlust collection, and I absolutely adore the stickers and embellishments!
To create my layout: 1. Cut a 1″ hollow frame from a sheet of White Cardstock. Cut a sheet of designer paper to 11-1/2″ x 11- 1/2″ and adhere to the hollow frame. 2. Use the Original Border Maker System with the Chevron Arrows Border Maker Cartridge to punch a border from White Cardstock. Cut off of the cardstock at 1-1/8″. Adhere the border as shown and adhere two 1/4″ x 12″ strips of Crimson Cardstock to each edge. (Please note that CM will be retiring this color along with a few others as it introduces new shades to our cardstock line.See below for more information.) 3. Cut photo mats from White Cardstock that measure: 5-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ and 4-3/4″ x 4-1/4″. Crop photos to fit. Use the Custom Cutting System with the smallest Circle Pattern and Green Blade on the outside edge to cut a mat from White Cardstock. Use the Red Blade on the outside edge to cut a photo. 4. Cut a 5″ x 12″ piece from the word print paper. Arrange the paper piece on the bottom right of the Cutting Mat. Position the Jumbo Circle Pattern so that the inside edge is at the 9″ mark on the right of the mat and at the 5-1/2″ line on the left of the mat. See photo. Use the Red Blade on the inside edge to cut a curve. 5. Keeping the piece on the bottom right corner of the mat, position the Jumbo Circle Pattern so the outside edge is 8-1/8″ on the right and 4″ on the left. See photo. Use the Red Blade on the outside edge to cut a curve. 6. Adhere the curved “road” piece to the bottom right of the designer paper. Adhere photos as shown. 7. Use the Jumbo Circle Pattern and the Blue and Red Blades on the inside edge to cut a curved piece. Cut with the Blue Blade first and without moving the pattern, cut again with the Red Blade. Cut the piece apart into three segments and adhere as shown.
8. Add stickers and embellishments.
I created the layout and the border below for Creative Memories. The layout on the left was published in the 2022 Exclusive NSD Sketch Booklet. The booklet featured a photo of the completed layout along with a sketch of the layout. My border was on the right page was published on the CM Blog on February 8, 2022. Please see the CM Blog post for instructions to create the border.
Below are step-by-step instructions for the layout on the left side.
1. Cut White Cardstock to 10-1/2″ x 10-1/2″ and adhere to the camera designer paper. 2. Use the 12-Inch Decorative Trimmer on the wavy side to cut What a View Paper to 2-3/4″. Trim the strip to 10-1/4″ taking off equal amounts from both sides of the strip. 3. Use the 12-Inch Decorative Trimmer on the wavy side to cut What a View Paper into a 1″ strip. Trim the strip to 10-1/4″ taking off equal amounts from both sides of the strip. 4. Use the Original Border Maker System with the Chevron Arrow Border Maker Cartridge to punch the reverse side of the What a View Paper. Use the 12-Inch Decorative Trimmer to cut off of the paper at 1- 1/2″. 5. Repeat Step 4. but cut the second border off at 1-3/8″. 6. Trim the two border strips to 10-1/4″ taking off equal amounts from both sides of the strips. Make sure that the wavy edges match with the wavy edges of the strips from Steps 2 and 3. 7. Crop photos to 6″ x 3-1/2″ and 4″ x 3-1/2″. 8. Position and adhere all of the strips and the photos onto the White Cardstock square leaving about a ¼” in-between the designer paper strips. 9. Add embellishments and stickers with Foam Squares. 10. Add journaling to the wavy spaces.
I created my last layout for #BorderMakerMonday with Creative Life Scrapbooking. When I first saw the new Sunshine Arches BMC, I saw WHEELS – bicycle wheels, tractor wheels, monster truck wheels, ATV wheels, etc. It inspired me to create another travel layout also using the Wanderlust Collection.
I’ll be creating and sharing more layouts with our newest collections soon. I hope that you can join me for my Virtual Croptoberfest Workshop. For information and to register, please click here.
Don’t forget thatFREE SHIPPING ends on noon CT on September 9th. I appreciate your orders and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program. You can purchase all of the materials and tools that I used through my CM website link.
Creative Memories is adding new colors to our Cardstock line and also retiring a few colors. It is also moving to a uniform cardstock weight of 60lb. Please see below for a chart of colors and dates.
Each month I share a scrapbooking technique on my YouTube channel and challenge all of my Facebook followers to use the technique to create and share a layout. When they add a photo of their layout to the appropriate album in Karyn’s Croppers, they are entered into my monthly Door Prize Drawing! These layouts feature the technique that I’m sharing for August.
I’m calling this a Puzzle Piece Technique as we put the punched pieces back together again to create a striking visual effect. Leaving a gap between the punched pieces creates a new secondary pattern and also creates depth on the layout.
I used the Treeline Border Punch and materials from the Leave Nothing Behind Collection for my first layout. This is a retired punch that Creative Memories brought back for its Tool Time Buffet that is happening August 1-9. When you purchase 3 of 9 designated tools, you will receive a free pack of exclusive embellishments. For this promo, CM brought back two additional retired border punches and also introduced two new border punches and a new border maker cartridge. These items are only available until noon CT on August 9th or while supplies last. They will not be available for purchase otherwise.
For more info about the Tool Time Buffet and to purchase, please visit my Creative Memories website. I appreciate your orders and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program.
For my second layout, I used the Dollop Arch Border Punch which is a current tool in our product line. I also used the super cute What a Zoo Too! collection. I love this collection and highly recommend all of the pieces!
For step-by-step instructions on creating these layouts, please visit my YouTube channel. I would also appreciate your subscription to my channel.
For an entry into my August Door Prize Drawing, please use this technique and share a photo of your layout into the #TechniqueTue 38 Album in Karyn’s Croppers.
Today I’m sharing a fun technique for our Creative Memories Border Maker System. For my examples I paired the Original Border Maker System with the Flourish Vine and Sandcastles Border Maker Cartridges. Instead of punching in a straight line, I punched around two different sized squares. I love when we can use our tools in multiple ways to get more utility from them!
For my first example, I used paper and stickers from our new Sunrays for Days Collection and the Sandcastles Border Maker Cartridge to create a fun layout with decorative corner pieces. Sunrays for Days is a fun and bright collection that is great for photos of all of our summer activities!
Please view my YouTube Video for a demonstration of how to create the border pieces.
To Create My Layout:
1. Cut (2) 4″ x 4″ squares from the tan print paper. 2. Center the squares in the housing unit of the Original Border Maker System with the Sandcastles Border Maker Cartridge and punch all four sides of each square. (You will not use the tray of the Original Border Maker System.) Please see my YouTube video for a demonstration. 3. Use the 12-Inch Trimmer to cut the squares in half on the diagonal. Adhere the triangle pieces into the corners of the blue paper. 4. Cut a hollow frame from a piece of 9-3/4″ x 9-3/4″ yellow paper. 5. Cut flip flop paper to 9-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ and adhere to the yellow frame. Adhere the piece to the center of the layout. 6. Crop and mat photos with White Cardstock. Add to layout. 7. Fussy cut and add a journaling piece from a Sunrays for Days Variety Mat and embellish with Sunrays for Days Stickers adhered with Foam Squares.
For my second layout, I used the Flourish Vine Border Maker Cartridge and used the same technique but created a decorative border from the triangle pieces. I started with 4″ squares cut in half on the diagonal. To get the smaller end pieces, I cut one of the triangles in half a second time. I also added a traditional border punched with the Original Border Maker System and Flourish Vine Border Maker Cartridge. After punching the border, cut it off of the paper at 1-1/2″ and add a 12″ x 1/4″ strip cut from Charcoal Cardstock. For this layout, I used the Our Moments Paper, Embellishments and Stickers.
For a demonstration, please see my YouTube video. While you’re on YouTube, please subscribe to may channel.
I originally created my third layout for Creative Life Scrapbooking. I used the same technique but started with smaller squares that measured 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. I punched all four sides of the squares but did not cut them in half. I used the Our Moments Paper, Tone-on-Tone Paper, Stickers and Embellishments for my layout. For step-by-step instructions, please see Creative Life Scrapbooking.
I hope that you give this technique a try! Please take a photo of your layout and share it into my #TechniqueTue 36 Album in Karyn’s Croppers on Facebook for an entry into my June Door Prize Drawing! I would love to see your versions of these layouts!
You may purchase all of the tools and materials that I used through my Creative Memories website link. I appreciate all of your orders and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program.
The Our Moments Collection is currently my favorite with Creative Memories! I adore the jewel tone color palette and the pretty laser borders, embellishments and stickers. Many of the sentiments and titles are family oriented, so it’s a great choice for your heritage photos. But the colors and patterns are really good for any type of photos!
To create my page, I turned to an older layout of mine for inspiration. I used the 12-Inch Trimmer to create elongated hexagon pieces using the 45-degree line. Please see my video for a step-by-step demo. While you’re on YouTube, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. As a subscriber, you will receive an email and notification whenever I post a new video. My channel will also appear in the Subscription area of the left sidebar on your YouTube homepage, so it will always be easy to find.
After I completed my video, I made some slight changes to my layout and moved two of the paper pieces and some of the cut laser borders. I also added an extra photo.
Below is my older layout that provided the inspiration for this new layout. On the video, I misspoke. I created this layout in 2018 with the old Archiver Collection from Creative Memories. Here’s a link to my original blog post. I used the old 12-Trimmer and created 60-degree angles for this version.
When cutting the hexagon pieces, you’ll end up with several leftover triangles. On my video, I offer a few different suggestions for using the triangles on another layout. Below is one of those ideas. I love how one technique creates unique pieces for 2 different layouts!
To create this layout, cut the purple paper to 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″, and adhere to a sheet of Charcoal Cardstock. Adhere the top row of triangle pieces as shown and add the laser border. Adhere a second row of triangles. Just add photos and some stickers and embellishments to finish it!
The Elongated Hexagon Layout is my technique layout for the month of May. I would love to see your versions of it! Please share photos of your completed layouts in the #TechinqueTue 35 Album in my Facebook group, Karyn’s Croppers. Your photo will serve as your entry into my monthly door prize drawing. Create a second layout with your leftover triangle scraps for a second entry! I can’t wait to see what you create!
The Our Moments Collection is available for purchase through my Creative Memories website. When you purchase through me, you’ll be entered into my Customer Rewards Program to receive bonus gifts from me.
What a fickle spring this has been! Beautiful weather one day and back to winter the next. Although my spring blooms are behind schedule this year, I can enjoy a few photos from last spring with this pretty page that I created for Creative Life Scrapbooking. I used the lovely Endless Meadows Collection from Creative Memories and the new Wildflowers and Field Fence Border Punches.
You might be interested in joining our PJ Party Virtual Crop on Friday, April 29th. We’ll meet on Zoom to create 5 double-page layouts together. Plus there will be 2 more additional layouts shared. If you can’t crop along on the 29th, you can still register for access to our recorded videos and printable handouts. We create double-page layouts that hold several photos. The layout designs are versatile so you can use materials that you already own. And we offer tool substitution suggestions. Please see our website for more information and to register.
Here’s a layout that I shared with the followers of my private Facebook group, Karyn’s Croppers. I shared the layout technique and challenged them to use the technique to create a layout and share a photo into the group for an entry into my Monthly Door PrizeDrawing! Again I used the Endless Meadows Collection for this layout.
I used the 12-Inch Trimmer with the Scallop and Scoring Blades and an easy cutting and folding technique to create the decorative panels in the center of the layout. For instructions, please see and subscribe to my Karyn Crops YouTube Channel.
I created one last layout with the Endless Meadows Collection. This was another layout that I shared with Creative Life Scrapbooking. To create my pretty border, I used the new Circle Chain Border Maker Cartridge with the Spring Leaf Punch and the old Blooming Medallion Punch. You can easily substitute any flower punch.
You’ll find the beautiful Endless Meadows Collection and most of the tools that I used on my Creative Memories site. I appreciate all of your orders and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program.
