3 Border Punch Layout Done 2 Ways

Thank you so much for all of your great feedback about my Monthly Technique Layouts! It makes my heart happy to see so many of you creating and sharing these layouts. I received a request to show an idea using multiple punches together. In my demo video, I demonstrate how to layer three different border punches from Creative Memories to create a multi-dimensional border. And then I took the technique a step further, adapted it a bit and created a unique layout!

I used the same three border punches as I used for my demo border and created a dissected border that runs across three photo panels. The layout is full of layers and dimension and features a beautiful progression of monochromatic tones. For my layout above, I used the Grateful Harvest Collection with the Spring Leaves Frame Punch, Forest Mushrooms Border Punch and Leafy Vine Border Punch. I also used the Rich Cocoa Ink Pad to ink all of the pieces to add richness, depth and a rustic burnished look.

I used the same border technique and use of monochromatic colors for my second layout. This page has a totally different look that is bright and full of fun. I used the Gingerbread Collection with the Gingerbread Border Punch, Canning Jars Border Punch and Dollop Arch Frame Punch for this layout.

All of the items that I used for both layouts are current items with Creative Memories and are available for purchase.

Easy Jumbo Circle Layout

For my Technique Layout and Challenge this month, I’m sharing a quick and easy layout idea. Although it’s quick and easy, it still delivers a great visual impact. And there’s room for plenty of photographs and journaling while preserving the graphic design.

To create my layout, you’ll only need your 12-Inch Trimmer and Custom Cutting System with the Jumbo Circle Pattern. For my layout above, I used the new Grateful Harvest Collection with the new Caramel Cardstock and Beige Cardstock. I also used the new Potter’s Clay Ink Pad to ink the edges of the layout, my photo mats and the embellishments and stickers.

For a step-by-step demonstration on how to create this layout, please view my video by clicking here.

All of the tools and materials that I used are available for purchase by clicking here.

I used the same method to create my sample layout above. For this layout I used the Coastal Scenes Bundle (retired) with Baby Blue and White Cardstocks.

Fall Scrapbooking Layouts

My husband and I are planning an autumn trip, and I can’t wait to hit the road and explore old towns full of antebellum history, quaint shops and antiques, historic bed and breakfast homes and farm-to -table restaurants. I’ll be watching for apple orchards, pumpkin patches, flea markets, fall festivals and hiking trails along our way and hopefully taking lots of fall photos!

I’ve recently created a few autumn layouts that are ready for the photos that I’ll take on our trip and they’re perfect for your fall photos too! I created the layout above for Creative Life Scrapbooking. Make sure to follow us on Facebook to see our daily posts. You can find the printable instructions for my scarecrow layout at our Shop at www.creativelifescrapbooking.com.

I used the new Grateful Harvest Collection from Creative Memories to create my layout. I also used the Wheatfield, Songbirds and Wood Fence Border Punches along with the Chrysanthemum Punch. Please see my Creative Memories website link to order your supplies.

You’ve already seen one of my Bonus Layouts for my Virtual Croptoberfest Workshop (my post from September 9th), and here’s a teaser photo with snippets of my other layouts. I used the Croptoberfest 2025 Project Bundle and Croptoberfest 2025 Project Receipt Kit from Creative Memories to create (4) double-page layouts and (2) bonus layouts for my event. I also used the new Chrysanthemum Punch, the Leafy Vine Border Punch and the Custom Cutting System with a variety of cutting patterns. These layouts and their instructions are exclusive to those who register. I’ll be hosting sessions on Zoom on Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th to create the layouts together. Everything is recorded for those who can’t join on Zoom.

Punched Hollow Frame Layout Using Border Maker Cartridges

Fall is right around the corner, and I was anxious to play with Creative Memories new fall collection! I used a fun technique to create a beautiful layout with the new Acorn & Leafs Chain Border Maker Cartridge and Grateful Harvest Collection.

I used only one double-sided sheet of the Grateful Harvest Tone-on-Tone Papers to create the gorgeous layout above. I folded the sheet in half on the diagonal and punched using the Border Maker System with the Acorns & Leaf Chain Border Maker Cartridge. (Please use a chain-style border maker cartridge and only use designer paper. Cardstock is too heavy for this technique.) You’ll want to watch my video for instructions and tips.

I used the new Rich Cocoa Ink Pad to distress the outside edges of a sheet of Bright White Cardstock, the center piece of paper and also the 4″ x 5-7/8″ photos mats and embellishments. I also used the ink to add a smear of the rich cocoa color to the caps of my acorns. I cut a variety mat to 6-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ for the title piece. Lastly, I used the new Chrysanthemum Punch to create some layered flower embellishments that I also inked.

You may purchase the items that I used at www.creativememories.com/user/karyn.

To create my second layout, I used the Follow the Trail Chain Border Maker Cartridge with the Wandering Wild Collection (both from 2025 Secret Box #3) and a sheet of the new Caramel Cardstock. Again, I used the Rich Cocoa Ink Pad to ink the edges of the cardstock pieces. My photo mats are (1) 3-3/4″ x 4-1/2″ and (2) 5-1/4″ x 3-3/4″. The journaling piece are 3-3/4″ x 3/4″.

Thanksgiving Turkey Scrapbook Layout

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my friends and followers in the USA! I hope that you enjoy a memory-making day filled with your loved ones. Thank you so much for following my blog and for your support of my small business. I am grateful for you. To celebrate the holiday, I created a fun Thanksgiving layout with some funky turkeys and a free downloadable handout.

For my layout, I used the Autumn Cottage Paper, and Stickers, Variety Mats, Vellum Paper, and Layered Border Embellishments from Creative Memories. This collection is now sold out, but you may still find some pieces from your favorite CM advisor or substitute with other materials. To create the turkeys, I used the Custom Cutting System with Circle Patterns, Festive Light Bulb Punch and the Flames and Drops Punch all from Creative Memories. The Festive Light Bulb Punch is also sold out with the company, but please reach out to your CM advisor. The Flames and Drops Punch was an exclusive punch that had been available through a past promotion.

I so appreciate your purchases through my Creative Memories website link, and I offer a generous Customer Rewards Program. I’ll be mailing my 4th Quarter Customer Rewards Gifts at the end of December. You’ll receive a gift from me for your $150 in purchases for the 4th Quarter.

As a little Thanksgiving gift for you, I created a free printable handout with my layout instructions. I hope that you enjoy creating my funky turkeys!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Croptoberfest 2024 Scrapbook Layout

I’m dedicating this layout to everyone who has joined me for my Virtual Croptoberfest this year. Last weekend we met on Zoom to chat and create my exclusive Croptoberfest layouts. And the fun is continuing as everyone is completing and sharing their layouts in our private Facebook group. You can still join the fun by registering for my Virtual Croptoberfest Workshop!

After completing my Croptoberfest layouts, I had a small amount of paper and cardstock leftover and challenged myself to use it to create a last layout.

I used the only full leftover sheet as my background and cut scraps into strips to create my diagonal borders. I used the Rustic Truck and Garland Banner Border Punches to create some fun layered borders for the layout. If you love these punches, you’ll want to join my Virtual Croptoberfest to see a few different ways to use them.

Embossed Vellum Leaves Scrapbook Layout

One of my favorite parts of autumn is when the leaves start to turn color, and my yard turns into a kaleidoscope of orange, yellow, green, red and brown. I love taking photos of the pretty fall colors and taking hikes in the changing forest. I created the layout below for some of my fall hiking photos using the Autumn Cottage Collection and Autumn Cottage Vellum Papers from Creative Memories.

I used the old Maple Leaf, Simple Leaf, and Five Leaf Punches from Creative Memories to punch leaves of different shades of Autumn Cottage Vellum. I used the Multi-Purpose Tool to add embossed details to the leaves and layered the leaves to create my symphony of fall colors. You can recreate this layout using any leaf punches.

Please see my YouTube video for measurements and a demonstration on creating this layout. Please click here to view my instructions.

You may purchase the Autumn Cottage Collection and more through my Creative Memories website link.

I’ll be sharing some of my own exclusive layouts during my Virtual Croptoberfest Workshop on September 27th and 28th. There will be recorded video instructions, printable handouts and Zoom sessions. I’m also hosting a private FB group for more fun and sharing. If you can’t be live with me on Zoom, please register to get access to the FB group and instructional materials.

Vellum Circles Scrapbook Layout

Lately we’ve been seeing more vellum from Creative Memories. Currently CM offers the Autumn Cottage Vellum Paper Pack, Something Blue Vellum Paper Pack, Serene Waters Vellum Paper Pack and the Cue the Blue Vellum Paper Pack. Each pack contains 5 sheets of different colors and some have designs.

As I’m often asked for ideas on using vellum, I decided to play with the new Autumn Cottage Collection and created the layout below that features the vellum from the collection.

I used the Circle Punch from Creative Memories to punch 1-3/4″ circles from a sheet of the Autumn Cottage Designer Paper and the Autumn Cottage Vellum Paper. I adhered the circles in rows and used the Vellum Tape Runner Refill to adhere the vellum circles. My photo mats are 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. I used the new Garland Banner Border Punch layered with Autumn Cottage Stickers to create some decorative pieces for the layout.

Please view my demonstration video for tips on assembling the layout, using the Vellum Tape Runner Refill and tips for the Garland Banner Border Punch.

All of the tools and materials that I used can be purchased using my Creative Memories website link. With your purchase, you’ll be enrolled in my Customer Rewards Program to receive gifts, freebies and product credits from me.

Currently Creative Memories is offering FREE SHIPPING on purchases of $80+ in the U.S. The FREE SHIPPING PROMO ends at noon CT on Friday, September 6th.

Fall Scrapbook Layouts

Before we get too far into the winter season, I want to share a few fall layouts that I created this year. I originally shared these layouts with Creative Life Scrapbooking as I’m one of the 7 designers on the CLS team. Make sure to like and follow us on Facebook as we share new layout ideas each week, and our annual Holly Days feature will begin on December 8th.

My first layout is full of fun owls! I used the Owl Build-A-Punch from Creative Memories to create this grid style layout. I used paper from the 2023 Croptoberfest Kit and Accessory Paper Pack for the squares and a variety mat and stickers from the Autumn Harvest Collection. I also used the Leafy Vine Border Punch. By changing the placement of the eyeballs, I created different expressions on the owls. Unfortunately, the Owl Build-A-Punch is now sold out, but hopefully many of you were able to purchase it earlier this fall.

For a printable PDF handout with instructions, please see the Creative Life Scrapbooking website.

To view a demo of the Owl Build-A-Punch, please see the Creative Life Scrapbooking YouTube channel. Please also subscribe to our channel to see many more quick demo videos.

Look close! For this layout, I used the Owl Build-A-Punch (sold out) to create black cats for Halloween! With just a few strokes with a fine tip silver pen, I transformed the owls into cute cats. I also love how the pumpkins mimic cat eyes! The layout is topped off with a border that I punched using the Original Border Maker System and the Bats & Stars Border Maker Cartridge. I used papers from the Sunflowers Field Paper Pack and Black Cardstock.

For printable PDF instructions, please see the Creative Life Scrapbooking website.

For my last layout, I was inspired by the cover of a Southern Living magazine to create my gorgeous layered pumpkin embellishment. For this layout, I used papers and stickers from the beautiful Autumn Harvest Collection. I love the unexpected shade of blue in this collection! It’s a bright and fun alternative to green. I also used the 12-Inch Decorative Trimmer, Pumpkin Patch Frame Punch (now sold out), Leafy Vine Border Punch and the Sweet Blossom Trio Punch (exclusive).

Instructions for this layout, can also be found on the Creative Life Scrapbooking website.

To purchase some of the tools and materials that I used for these layouts, please see my Creative Memories page. I so appreciate your support of my business!

Make sure to like and follow our Creative Life Scrapbooking Facebook Page as our annual Holly Days feature will begin on December 8th. For seven consecutive days, the CLS designers will each share a new winter holiday layout!

Folded Reveal Scrapbook Layout

I used an easy folding technique for my layouts today. It’s a simple concept that results in a big impact.

To create the layout, you’ll need two sheets of designer paper and a coordinating sheet of cardstock. One of the paper pieces will be your reveal piece, so select a cute print for that. You’ll use both sides of the second sheet of designer paper that you fold.

You’ll only need your 12-Inch Trimmer with a decorative blade. I used the Scallop Blade for both of my layouts. I used the Autumn Harvest Collection for my first layout and the Nordic Winter Collection for my second layout.

Please see my YouTube video for a quick demo of how to create the layout.

This layout can also be turned on its side, so that the reveal portion is at the top or bottom of the layout. I can’t wait to see all of your different versions! For an entry into my Monthly Door Prize Drawing, please share a photo of your layout with us in my Facebook group, Karyn’s Croppers. Go to the Technique Tuesday 52 Album and click the ADD PHOTO button to upload your photo into the album.

All of the tools and materials that I used can be found on my Creative Memories website.

This year Creative Memories is offering 3 exclusive product bundles for our annual Black Friday Promotion. The promo started yesterday and ends on at noon CT on November 17th or while supplies last. These promo bundles have generated a lot of excitement, and they will likely run out before the end date. Please order as soon as possible if interested. The bundles contain exclusive items that will not be available to purchase later. With a $150 purchase, you can select one FREE bundle. You can select additional bundles with higher purchases. Which bundle is your favorite?

I appreciate your purchases through my Creative Memories website link and offer a generous Customer Rewards Program!
