Get Them Before They’re Gone – Retiring Paper Packs

KarynCrops-ThatsMyGirl

To make room in our product line for lots of great new products, Creative Memories has recently discontinued several popular product collections.  These items have been moved to the Going Gone section of our website and are only available while supplies last.

I would also like to remind everyone that our border maker cartridges and stand alone punches are ordered and stocked in a limited quantity and will not be replaced when they sell out.  So if you really like a border cartridge or a punch, it’s best to order it as soon as possible.

Today, I’m sharing page layouts that I made with a variety of retiring products.  The first layout is made with our Hello Baby Embellishments and Hello Baby Girl Paper Pack and Stickers.  I cut strips to 5/8″ wide and wove them together.  This technique worked great with the arrow designs on the printed paper.

KarynCrops-HelloBabyGirlDarling

My second page is a different take on the striped jumbo heart that I featured in my last blog post.  Instead of stripes, I cut squares into triangles to make a patchwork heart.  The cute prints and stickers are from our A Year to Remember Part 2 Paper Pack and Stickers.  The background paper is a sheet from a sold-out paper pack, but the wood print paper from our Hello Baby Boy Paper Pack would be a nice substitution.  The title card is from our Natural Elegance Variety Mat Pack.

KarynCropsJust2OfUs

To make the jumbo heart featured above, fold a 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock (any color) in half.  Sketch half of a heart on the fold line and cut it out.  Cut a variety of 2″ squares and cut them in half on the diagonal.   Adhere the triangle pieces onto the heart piece leaving a lot of over-hang on the edge pieces.  Be mindful of the pattern as you assemble.  I found it helpful to lay out all of the pieces first before adhering them.  After adhering, cut off the over-hang.

My next layout has quite a bit of detail and was more time-consuming to make.  But I enjoyed making it, and I love the finished product!

KarynCrops-DaddyIsMyPrince

I used turquoise printed paper from our discontinued Fresh Picks Paper Pack and solid cardstock from our discontinued Hello Baby Solid Cardstock Pack, and the background paper is from our Achievements Paper Pack.  The stickers are from our discontinued Hello Baby Boy Stickers.  And the cute clouds were made with our sold-out Word Bubble Punch.

To make castle:
Step 1:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch two borders from the light gray cardstock and trim off of cardstock at 3.5”.
Step 2:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch one border from the light gray cardstock and cut off of cardstock at 4.25”.  Cut this piece into two pieces that are 2” wide each.  These will be the towers.
Step 3:  Using Original Border Maker with Film Strip Cartridge, punch borders from the dark  gray cardstock and use the relief pieces as the brick for the castle walls and towers.
Step 4:  From the dark gray cardstock, cut two pieces that are 2” x 3” and trim to narrow triangles to form the tower peaks.

To make crown:
Step 1:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch a border from the light blue cardstock and cut off of cardstock at 2”.  Cut off a 2” wide piece and trim sides at an angle.
Step 2:  Using Original Border Maker with Diamond Scroll Cartridge, make one punch in the center of the crown to form the design.  Cut a small piece of the light grey cardstock to put behind the diamond scroll cut-out.
Step 3:  Adorn with rhinestones.

To finish page:
Step 1:  Cut two sheets of leaf paper to 11” x 7.5”.
Step 2:  From left-over pieces of leaf paper, hand cut with scissors an assortment of leaf patterns to form vines for castle.  You could also substitute with a vine punched from our Garden Vine Punch.
Step 3:  Double mat photos with light blue and dark gray cardstock.
Step 4:  Using the Word Bubble Punch, punch two pieces from the light blue cardstock and trim into clouds.  Using Original Border Maker with Bubble Cartridge, punch circles from small scrap of pink paper.  These will be the cheeks on the clouds.  Use black pen to draw eyes and mouths on clouds.
Step 5:  Assemble page as shown and add title.
Step 6:  Use Foam Squares to adhere stickers.

2-page-watermarks-page-005

Instructions to make this layout:

  1. From diamond patterned paper (see photo), cut two 1-3/8” x 12” strips following the pattern of the paper as shown.
  2. Noting direction of the pattern, cut dark wood grained paper in half. Cut mottled green paper in half.  Lay a piece of the wood grained paper abutted on top of a piece of the green using  the grid on your custom cutting system mat as a guide to line up the pieces to a perfect 12″ x 12″ shape.  Adhere a border piece horizontally to the center of the page to hold both sides together.  Repeat with second page.
  3. Using the red blade on the outside edge of the 4” x 6” oval pattern, cut an oval from the orange word patterned paper. Using your scissors cut a little dip in the top center of the piece to make it look like the top of a pumpkin.  Using the green blade on the outside edge of the 4” x 6” oval pattern, cut an oval from the brown cardstock.  Adhere the patterned piece on top of the brown piece.  Use scissors to trim the brown cardstock to follow the dip that you had previously cut in the patterned paper.
  4. Using the red blade on the outside edge of the 3.5” x 5” oval pattern, cut an oval from the orange word patterned paper. Using the green blade on the outside edge of the 3.5” x 5” oval pattern, cut an oval from the brown cardstock.  Cut both pieces in half vertically and adhere patterned pieces to the brown pieces.  Using your scissors, freehand cut a stem piece from the green word patterned paper.  Adhere this piece to the brown cardstock and cut brown cardstock with scissors to create a mat for the green stem piece.
  5. Assemble and adhere your pumpkin pieces on the first page as shown.
  6. From red word patterned paper, cut two 4.25” x 6.25” photo mats and mount photos. From beige wood grained paper, cut four 3.75” x 3.75” photo mats.  Crop four photos to 3.5” x 3.5” and mount on mats.
  7. From the backside of the paper with the journaling boxes, cut a 4.75” x 3” journal box. From dark brown wood patterned paper, cut a 5” x 3.25” mat for the journaling box.
  8. Adhere photos and journaling box to pages.
  9. Using the border maker with picket fence cartridge, punch two borders from the dark brown wood patterned paper. Use foam squares to adhere to bottoms of pages.
  10. Using maple leaf punch, punch leaves from the red word patterned paper, green word patterned paper and the orange word patterned paper.
  11. Adhere “Love This” sticker to green word pattern and trim to a ribbon shape.
  12. Add leaves and stickers to page as shown using foam squares on the ribbon piece and green leaf.
  13. Add title and journal.

Instructions to make this layout:

  1. Cut two 1.5” x 12” strips from the dark brown mottled paper.  Cut two 1” strips from the green word patterned paper.  Using the border maker, punch two circle weave borders from the dark brown wood patterned paper.  Layer and assemble pieces as shown.
  2. Noting direction of the pattern, cut the beige wood grained paper in half. Noting the direction of the pattern, cut the diamond patterned paper in half.  Lay one of each piece side-by-side on top of your custom cutting system mat using the grid so that the pieces line up to a perfect 12×12 shape.  Adhere a border piece vertically to the center of the page to hold both sides together.  Repeat with second page.
  3. From the backside of the paper with the journaling boxes, cut a 4” x 3.25” journal box.

September Crop Club

2-page-watermarks-page-003

At my September Crop Club, we made three double-page layouts using the same page sketch, one pack of Denim Blues Paper, one pack of Denim Blues Embellishments and one sheet of white cardstock.  We also used our new Lace Scallop and Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridges and our new Shooting Star Punch.  Our Denim Blues ABC/123 Stickers were an additional item that could be added.  Please contact me to purchase this kit.

cropclubsept16

We used this page sketch that my friend, Noreen Smith, designed for Creative Memories.

2-page-watermarks-page-003

This page features our Lace Scallop Border Maker Cartridge and a mixture of the flower and button embellishments for very sweet and feminine look.  It’s hard to see, but the background paper features tiny light blue dots on a white background.

2-page-watermarks-page-002

For a more masculine look, I used a large square in the background instead of a circle and also featured our new Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridge and the button embellishments.  Our new Repositionable Tape Runner Refill was perfect for adhering the delicate Lace Scallop and Circle Weave borders!

2-page-watermarks-page-001

This fun and spirited layout features our new Shooting Star Punch.  The bottom strips with the stars were cut from the backside of the background papers.  After cutting off the strips, I “taped” them back to the background papers with the striped strips.  The white letter stickers are an old CM product.

New Denim Blues

watermarks-page-004

The response to our new Denim Blues Collection has been tremendous!  It can be used for feminine and masculine pages and everything in-between.  Everyone is absolutely loving it!  The collection includes an actual Denim Coverset, Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Letter Stickers.

I made the page above on a Spargo 12 x 12 Plain Page and used the Denim Blues Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Stickers.  I also used our new Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridge to punch the border.  Our Original Border Maker System is now available with three cartridges instead of one – all for the same original price of $33.50!  For instructions on how to make this page, please visit our CM Blog at this link.

denim-two-page

I also used the Denim Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Stickers and Spargo 12 x 12 Plain Pages for this double page layout.  With my scissors, I snipped around the denim paper squares to make frayed edges that remind me of my favorite pair of worn blue jeans.  For complete instructions on how to make this layout, please visit the CM Blog using this link.

It’s Naturally Elegant…

DSC_8395

Natural Elegance is our new wedding collection.  It’s soft, subtle and simply beautiful.  The album cover is absolutely gorgeous and can be purchased with or without coordinating pre-designed pages.  The soft prints of the paper pack will work with many solid shades of cardstock, and once again the embellishments are some of my favorites.  You’ll be able to create stunning wedding layouts with this collection.  Also consider giving the Natural Elegance Bundle as a wedding or bridal shower gift that will be appreciated for a life-time.  I don’t have any current wedding photos, but I couldn’t pass up this collection.  See my  pages below and our Creative Memories Blog for more creative ideas for using Natural Elegance.

watermarks-page-003

I used our Border Maker with our new Lace Scallop Cartridge to make the border. The journaling was done on a coordinating Slide-In Card and Foam Squares help the Natural Elegance Stickers pop off of the page.  The dark grey cardstock from our Travel Cardstock Paper Pack really sets off the page.  Although the paper and embellishments are lovely, the soft subtle colors and prints keep the main focus on the photos.  Please see our CM Blog for complete instructions on how to make this page.

watermarks-page-002

I used a Spargo Page as the background and made the borders with our Border Maker System and new Lace Scallop Cartridge.  Please see our CM Blog for complete instructions on how to make this page.

August Crop Club

2-page-watermarks-page-012

For this month’s Crop Club, I used our new Soiree Paper Pack and Soiree Embellishments.  This collection is full of bright fun prints and super cute stickers and embellishments.  It’s great for photos from birthdays or any sort of celebration.  I used Noreen Smith‘s page sketch below as the layout for these pages.

March 2013 SOTM

This sketch does not have a cutting guide, but the concept is simple.  From your sheet of designer paper, punch two borders and then cut the remaining portion in half.

2-page-watermarks-page-011

For this layout, I punched borders with our Original Border Maker and Crown Cartridge on both the right and left sides of the blue paper.  I then cut the blue paper in half.  The white borders punched with our Ocean Waves Cartridge add extra pizzazz.

2-page-watermarks-page-012

I used our Original Border Maker with our new Lace Scallop Cartridge to punch two borders from the pink floral paper.  I used the reverse side of the borders which is green with a slight print.  To help the green borders really pop, I layered raspberry lace scallop borders behind them.

2-page-watermarks-page-013

For this layout, I cut the green print paper in half.  I arranged the pieces vertically on the pages in order to follow the pattern on the green paper.  Two raspberry pink ocean waves borders and some embellishments complete the layout.

July Crop Club

Our new Cool Serenity Collection is perfect for beach, lake and river photos.  The shades of blue and green are beautiful, and the embellishments are some of my favorites.  I used this collection and the page sketch below from Noreen Smith for my July Crop Club.

2-page-watermarks-page-007

The border on this layout was made with our Original Border Maker System with our new Grass and Ocean Waves Cartridges.

2-page-watermarks-page-008

I used Foam Squares to create the layered Ocean Waves border at the bottoms of these pages.

2-page-watermarks-page-006

The grass border at the bottom was punched from the green cardstock in the Travel Solid 12×12 Cardstock Paper Pack. This pack of cardstock coordinates perfectly with the Cool Serenity Collection.

Have Travel Photos?

We have TWO great new travel collections for you – Cool Serenity and Uncharted!  They are totally different, but both are beautiful!  I love the paper prints in both of these collections, but I really LOVE the die cut embellishments!  And to top if off, we have an item that has been on the top of my personal wish list – a new Grass Border Maker Cartridge!  Yay!  Here are some pages that I made with each of the new collections.

2-page-watermarks-page-012

I’m quite fond of this page that I made with our Uncharted Paper Pack, Embellishments, Stickers and Slide-In Pack!  Although it may look complicated, it was a snap to make.  The building tops are just small pieces of paper that I trimmed to points.  The green border on the bottom was punched with our Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge.

2-page-watermarks-page-013

For this page, I started with an Uncharted Predesigned Page and added a Crown Border to look like a railroad trestle.  For instructions on how to make both of these pages, please see my post on the CM Blog from June 14th.

2-page-watermarks-page-011

This is a Cool Serenity Predesigned page that I dressed up with some added embellishment.  The grass border and the sun were made with our Border Maker with new Grass Cartridge.  The banner consists of 2″ circles that were cut in half.

2-page-watermarks-page-014

This layout is made with Cool Serenity Paper, Stickers and Embellishments.  The border at the bottom was punched with our Border Maker with Grass Cartridge.  The cute clouds were punched with our Word Bubble Punch – which is now only available while supplies last.  For instructions on how to make both of the Cool Serenity pages, please see my post on the CM Blog from June 20th.

June Crop Club

For my June Crop Club, we made three layouts using the same page sketch from Noreen Smith and our CM Hello Baby Boy Paper Pack.  The CM Mint ABC/123 Stickers and some solid cardstock completed the pages.  If you would like to purchase the materials with instructions to make these pages or attend my Crop Club, please contact me.

2-page-watermarks-page-014

The faux chevron border on this layout was made by cutting 2″ squares in half diagonally and arranging as shown.  Additional clouds were punched with our Word Bubble Punch.

2-page-watermarks-page-012

To make the border, use our Original Border Maker with Chevron Cartridge to punch two borders from royal blue cardstock.  Cut the border in half to make the feather-like strips.

The borders on this page were punched with our Original Border Maker with the Crown Cartridge.

One Layout Done 3 Ways

One layout done three ways! That’s what my Crop Club is all about! At my monthly Crop Club, we use one layout sketch and one pack of paper to make three different layouts. At each session, you’ll learn a new technique and use our newest tools. The fee includes all materials – you just bring a basic tool kit. A special thanks goes to my friend, Noreen Smith, who shares her layout sketches.

baby

For this example, I used paper from our CM Hello Baby Boy and Watercolor Love Paper Packs and embellishments from our Watercolor Love and Pastel 2 Embellishments.  Using the same layout sketch, we made the following three layouts at my first Crop Club using our Hello Baby Girl Paper Pack and some additional sheets of cardstock.

2-page-watermarks-page-012

The fancy border was punched with our new Decorative Arcs Punch.  The flowers were made by folding and cutting circles.  See the CM Blog for a video instruction on how to make the flowers.

2-page-watermarks-page-010

The cute borders were punched with our Original Border Maker System with our new Button Cartridge.  The strawberries are heart punch outs.

2-page-watermarks-page-011

The borders were punched with our Original Border Maker with our new Chevron Cartridge.  I love how the three layouts are made from the same paper pack but have very different looks.  Although these were made with our Hello Baby Girl Paper Pack, they are not baby pages.  (The designs on the backsides of some of these sheets are very cute baby motifs.)
