Secret Garden Scrapbook Layouts

Oh my goodness!  The new Secret Garden Collection from Creative Memories just might be their most beautiful collection yet!  It’s full of soft watercolor designs in shades of purple and teal.  The Fast2Fab Album with Pre-Designed Pages is absolutely stunning, and has received rave reviews from my customers.  At my recent weekend retreat, I sold 6 of the Fast2Fab Albums!  Personally, I love the Secret Garden Stickers most of all.  The sticker pack is full of lovely floral arrangements and sweet sentiments that are perfect for adorning pretty pages and cards!

We used the Secret Garden Paper and Stickers at my Crop Club last month.  At Crop Club, we use one page sketch, one pack of paper, one pack of stickers or embellishments, and some cardstock to make three double-page layouts.  Please contact me if you live in the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area and would like to attend my Crop Club.  Or contact me if you’re interested in participating in my Crop Club by mail and would like to purchase my Secret Garden Crop Club Kit.  Below are the three layouts that can be created from the kit.

KarynCropsWordpressSecretGardenCropClubPages - Page 055

We used a 1-2-3 Page Sketch created by my friend, Noreen Smith.  Noreen has created a series of simple sketches that require only three cuts from one sheet of designer paper, and she shares some of these sketches on her blog, Organized & Creative Mom.  She has recently created an e-book of sketches that you can purchase from her blog.

The first layout is adorned with Secret Garden Stickers and also punch outs from CM’s new Double Heart Punch and borders punched with the Doily Border Punch.  The corners of the journaling box were punched with CM’s new 4-Way Heart & Stars Corner and Hole Punch.

KarynCropsWordpressSecretGardenCropClubPages - Page 057

My second layout features a bottom border punched with the Original Border Maker System and the Picket Fence Cartridge.  The Picket Fence Cartridge is one of three cartridges that come with the system when purchased.  A thin 12″ x 5/8″ strip of designer paper was threaded through the picket fence to create a ribbon effect.

I also included a few hearts from the Double Heart Punch and another journaling box with corners punched with the 4-Way Heart & Stars Corner and Hole Punch.

My third layout features a lovely border that I created with the recently sold-out Teardrop Lattice Border Punch.  I punched one border and cut it in half lengthwise and adhered each half to each page and topped them with border stickers adhered with Foam Squares. (This is a good reminder that CM’s punches and cartridges for the Original Border Maker System are considered limited edition items and are only available in a set quantity.  These items are projected to stay in inventory for 3-12 months, but some sell out quickly.)

On all three of my layouts, you’ll notice that I adhered most of the flower, butterfly and title stickers with Foam Squares.  I love the added dimension that the Foam Squares provide to my pages.

You’ll also notice that all three layouts feature a different way to arrange five 4″ x 6″ and 6″ x 4″ photos.  However, you can crop your photos into smaller sizes and arrange them to your liking.

I love all three of these layouts and can’t decide which is my favorite.  Which one do you like best?  Please leave me a comment – I would love to hear from you!

I look forward to making and sharing more pretty pages with this beautiful collection!  Please contact me if you’re interested in purchasing the materials to create these layouts.

Happy Scrapping!

February Blog Hop

Welcome to our Creative Life Scrapbooking February Blog Hop!  I hope that you have loved the projects that you’ve seen so far and that you love these pages that I made with our new Mi Amor Collection from Creative Memories.  This collection contains a mix of cute paper prints, die cut embellishments and stickers – perfect for making pages of your loved ones!

adorable

Since I didn’t have any photos that were quite perfect for the Mi Amor Collection, I purchased a few cheap props from the dollar store and coaxed my granddaughter into an impromptu photo shoot.  She was short on patience that day, but I managed to capture several keepsake photos.

My first page is raining hearts and is a take-off of my “Thankful” page from November.  It’s also dedicated to my scrapping friend, Fran, who so loves that page.

I used our Picket Fence and Heart Chain Border Maker Cartridges on this page.  Both of these cartridges currently come bundled with our Border Maker System, and the Heart Chain Cartridge is also available for purchase separately.  I made an extra tall fence by punching one end of black cardstock with the Border Maker; cutting the border off of the black cardstock at 2-1/4″; and then punching the other side and trimming off the pointed ends.  Since the strip wasn’t wide enough to fit in the Border Maker guide, I used Post-It Notes to extend the border to hold it in place.  (See photos below.)

To make the heart garland, I made a small snip with my scissors in-between every three hearts so that I could bend the chain into shape.  I used Foam Squares cut in half to pop the garland off of the fence.  The small hearts are the punch-outs from the heart chain.  I also used Foam Squares with those.  I hand-sketched the tree myself.

My second page shows a great way to use our new Button Trio Punch!  I made a large heart template by folding a 12″ piece of black cardstock in half, sketching half of a heart and cutting it out.  With a pencil, I lightly traced around the heart onto my background sheet of black cardstock and used this as a guide for adhering my buttons.  The buttons were punched from the Mi Amor Paper and red, cranberry, white, beige and gray cardstock.  I used Foam Squares to randomly pop some of the buttons.   The die cuts are from the Mi Amor Embellishments, and I used our Ruby ABC/123 Stickers for the title.

Lastly, I’m sharing this two-page layout.  To make the large heart, I cut strips of Mi Amor Paper into 1″ and 1/2″ strips and randomly adhered them to the large heart template that I made for the button heart page above.  I left a small space between each strip so that the black background of the heart would show through.  After taping down the pieces, I cut off the over-hang.  The border across the bottom was made with our new Dot Scallop Border Maker Cartridge and our Heart Chain Cartridge.  I used our old CM Heart Maker to punch a variety of hearts.  I cut the top parts from the hearts, reassembled them, and added faux pen stitching to give a patchwork look.

2-page-watermarks-page-005

Instructions to make this layout:

  1. From diamond patterned paper (see photo), cut two 1-3/8” x 12” strips following the pattern of the paper as shown.
  2. Noting direction of the pattern, cut dark wood grained paper in half. Cut mottled green paper in half.  Lay a piece of the wood grained paper abutted on top of a piece of the green using  the grid on your custom cutting system mat as a guide to line up the pieces to a perfect 12″ x 12″ shape.  Adhere a border piece horizontally to the center of the page to hold both sides together.  Repeat with second page.
  3. Using the red blade on the outside edge of the 4” x 6” oval pattern, cut an oval from the orange word patterned paper. Using your scissors cut a little dip in the top center of the piece to make it look like the top of a pumpkin.  Using the green blade on the outside edge of the 4” x 6” oval pattern, cut an oval from the brown cardstock.  Adhere the patterned piece on top of the brown piece.  Use scissors to trim the brown cardstock to follow the dip that you had previously cut in the patterned paper.
  4. Using the red blade on the outside edge of the 3.5” x 5” oval pattern, cut an oval from the orange word patterned paper. Using the green blade on the outside edge of the 3.5” x 5” oval pattern, cut an oval from the brown cardstock.  Cut both pieces in half vertically and adhere patterned pieces to the brown pieces.  Using your scissors, freehand cut a stem piece from the green word patterned paper.  Adhere this piece to the brown cardstock and cut brown cardstock with scissors to create a mat for the green stem piece.
  5. Assemble and adhere your pumpkin pieces on the first page as shown.
  6. From red word patterned paper, cut two 4.25” x 6.25” photo mats and mount photos. From beige wood grained paper, cut four 3.75” x 3.75” photo mats.  Crop four photos to 3.5” x 3.5” and mount on mats.
  7. From the backside of the paper with the journaling boxes, cut a 4.75” x 3” journal box. From dark brown wood patterned paper, cut a 5” x 3.25” mat for the journaling box.
  8. Adhere photos and journaling box to pages.
  9. Using the border maker with picket fence cartridge, punch two borders from the dark brown wood patterned paper. Use foam squares to adhere to bottoms of pages.
  10. Using maple leaf punch, punch leaves from the red word patterned paper, green word patterned paper and the orange word patterned paper.
  11. Adhere “Love This” sticker to green word pattern and trim to a ribbon shape.
  12. Add leaves and stickers to page as shown using foam squares on the ribbon piece and green leaf.
  13. Add title and journal.

Fresh Picks

Our Fresh Picks product collection is very pretty and perfect for spring!  I debuted the page layouts below at my recent weekend retreat to rave reviews.  I used the Fresh Pick Paper Pack, Fresh Picks Slide-In Pack, Border Maker with Lace Flower and Picket Fence Cartridges, our new Corner Rounder, additional sheets of white cardstock, and Foam Square Adhesives.

Blog Photos - Page 006

To make the border above, punch 2 white borders and 2 purple borders using the Border Maker and Lace Flower Cartridge.  Layer the white borders underneath the purple borders.  The butterfly border and the large butterfly are cut from sheets of the paper.  (This paper pack includes sheets of pre-printed borders and title boxes.)  To make the beautiful title, I trimmed a Slide-In card and notched the corners with our new Corner Rounder.  The large butterfly is attached with Foam Square Adhesives.  Photos are mounted on white cardstock and Fresh Pick Paper.

Blog Photos - Page 003

For the page above, I layered a white Lace Flower border underneath a purple Lace Flower border and cut it in half to use on each side of the butterfly Slide-In card.  The Blissful Days title is also a Slide-In card, and the journaling box was cut from an additional Slide-In card.  The large photo is 4×6″ and the two square photos are 3.25″ x 3.25″.  Photos are mounted on white cardstock.  Large butterflies are hand-cut from a sheet of the paper and adhered with Foam Square Adhesives.

Blog Photos - Page 005

To make the border above, punch 2 Picket Fences with our Border Maker and layer underneath the pre-printed border.  The butterflies are hand-cut from a sheet of the paper and adhered with Foam Square Adhesives.  The photos are 3.75″x3.75″.  I used small scraps of paper for the purple mat and the floral mat.  The journaling box is cut from a Slide-In card.

Blog Photos - Page 004

For this page, I used our old Jumbo Circle Cutting Pattern to make the large purple circle, and the floral paper is a scrap piece.  Punch 3 purple Lace Flower borders using the Border Maker.  Cut in half the adjoining bars along the bottom edge of the borders.  Use our Tape Runner or Mini Tape Runner to put adhesive on the backside of each flower.  Adhere the first flower by lining up the top adjoining bar (the uncut bar) with the edge of the purple circle.  Stick the first flower down and curve the border slightly to adhere the second flower.  Work your way around the circle one flower at a time.  Assemble the border using the instructions for the page above.

Be Bold & Flourish…

I absolutely love our Be Bold & Flourish Designer Paper and Fast 2 Fabulous Album Pages!  The color pairings and print designs really speak to me.  And they told me that they would be perfect for some special photos of mine…

Trick or Treat Pages

I made the fence by punching a sheet of black cardstock with our Border Maker and Picket Fence Cartridge.  Cut the border to 2.5″ wide, flip over and punch the second edge with the Picket Fence Cartridge also.  Then trim off the pointed ends of one side of the border to make the fence as shown.  Make the pumpkins by punching 3 circles of different patterned paper.  Overlay the 3 circles, and using your scissors cut notches from the top and bottom and semi-circle shapes as shown.  Select one shape from each paper and reassemble into a pumpkin shape and add pen stitching.  The title, bats and journaling box are cut from some of the sheets of paper in the pack.

24x12 Photos for Blog - Page 002

To make the ribbons on these pages, cut paper strips to 2 inches wide by 12 inches long.  Working from one edge of a strip, make over-lapping folds to create the paper ribbon.  The title and journaling box are cut from some of the sheets of paper in the pack.
