2018 National Scrapbook Day Layouts – Part 4

Hello! This is day four of my five days of National Scrapbook Day layouts using the exclusive National Scrapbook Kit, Paper and Stickers from Creative Memories.  These items are only available from a CM advisor.  If you don’t have an advisor, please contact me and I’ll be glad to help you get the materials.

The kit comes with instructions to make two layouts designed by CM, but I wanted to give the attendees of my up-coming National Scrapbook Day Workshop some alternative ideas for the materials.  And once I made a page, I couldn’t stop – the materials are so cute and perfect for my birthday party photos!

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout4

I used white cardstock as the base of these pages and added multiple strips of designer paper.  From top to bottom, the size of the strips are:  1/2″, 2″, 5-1/4″, 1-1/2″, and 2″.  The 1-1/2″ yellow strip was placed under the bottom of the blue piece.  I punched the bottom of the blue piece using the Original Border Maker System with the NEW Double Chevron Cartridge.  I love this new border cartridge – it’s such an interesting and versatile pattern!

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts4 - Page 069

I cut the border sticker at the bottom center of the page and adhered it with Foam Squares.  All of the other stickers are also adhered with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts4 - Page 071

My journaling box is 3-1/4″ x 2″, and again all of the stickers are adhered with Foam Squares.  I used the Black Dual-Tip Pen to add faux pen stitching to both pages.

I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my fifth and final day of National Scrapbook Day layouts!  Bye for now…

Hi!  I’m glad that you’re back for Part 3 of my 2018 National Scrapbook Day layouts!  The National Scrapbook Day materials are such a happy collection of papers and stickers and are perfect for photos of a birthday party!  Stay tuned as I still have two more layouts to share with you.

The National Scrapbook Day Kit, Papers and Stickers are exclusive items only available from a CM advisor.  If you don’t have an advisor, I would be glad to help you get the items – just send me a message!

Last weekend, I attended an event for Creative Memories advisors, and this is my interpretation of a page sketch that was shared with us.  I used two sheets of white cardstock as the base of these pages.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts3 - Page 073

The wide border consists of multi-colored pieces that measure 12″ x 1″ and 12″ x 1/2″.  I cut these pieces in relation to the pattern on the paper.  I wanted the rows that had yellow scallops.  The four royal cardstock strips are 12″ x 1/4″, and the green striped piece is 12″ x 3″.  I used the Original Border Maker System with the Button Cartridge to punch the final piece of the border.  The title stickers are adhered with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts3 - Page 076

I used the Custom Cutting System with the medium sized Circle Cutting Pattern and the blue blade on the inside edge to cut the three circle pieces at the bottom of the page.  The stickers are adhered with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts3 - Page 074

I cut the circles for my ice cream cone using the Custom Cutting System with the medium-sized Circle Cutting Pattern and red blade on the inside edge.  I started with a 2-1/2″ x 3″ rectangle for the cone.  To make a cone shape, cut on a diagonal from the top corners down to the center of the bottom edge. I cut the cherry from red cardstock using the smallest Circle Cutting Pattern and the blue blade on the inside edge.  I highlighted the cherry with the Silver Metallic Dual-Tip Pen, and adhered it with a Foam Square.

My photos are 4″ x 6″ and 4″ x 4″, and my photo mats are 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4 and 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″.  For my journaling, I drew uneven wavy lines to write above.  And I finished the layout with faux pen stitching using the Dual-Tip Black Pen.

See you back here tomorrow!  Happy Scrapping!

2018 National Scrapbook Day Layouts – Part 2

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts2 - Page 079

Welcome back for my second layout featuring the exclusive National Scrapbook Day Kit, Papers and Stickers from Creative Memories!  These materials are super cute and perfect for pages featuring children.  I still have 3 more layouts to share, so make sure to come back and visit with me over the next three days.

If you don’t have a CM advisor, I would be glad to mail these exclusive items to you as they are only available directly from an advisor.  The kit is $12.50, and the coordinating paper pack is $5.00 – plus everyone who purchases from me will also receive a coordinating sticker strip for free.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout2

As with my first layout, these pages also started as single pages that I later put together as a double-page spread.  If I had started as a double-page layout, I would have done something different with my banner stickers.  But since I had already added the faux pen stitching, I decided not to move them.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts2 - Page 080

For the first page, I used the orange print paper as the base and added a 6″ x 12″ piece of the green striped paper.  I punched an edge of the white print paper with the Original Border Maker using the Scallop Dot Cartridge and cut it off of my paper at 2″ wide.  The peach patterned strip is 3/4″ wide.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts2 - Page 078

To make my ice cream cone, I cut my photos using the Custom Cutting System and the smallest circle cutting pattern with the red blade on the outside edge.  The yellow print, red cardstock, and royal cardstock photo mats were cut on the outside edge with the blue blade.  The cone piece is 4-1/2″ wide and cut on a diagonal from the outside corners to the center of the bottom of the piece.  I matted the “cherry on top” sticker with a red cardstock circle cut from the medium circle pattern on the inside edge with the blue blade.  It is adhered with a Foam Square as are all of the other stickers.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayouts2 - Page 081

The orange print paper is also the base for the second page.  The green striped strips are 3/4″ and 2″ wide.  The wide scalloped border is 1-1/2″ wide, and the peach print strip is 3/4″ wide.  My two photo mats are 6-1/4″ x 4-1/4″, and my six photos are cropped to 1-7/8″ x 4″.  All of the stickers are adhered with Foam Squares.

Lastly, I used the Dual-Tip Black Pen to add some faux pen stitching.  I love how the simple use of a pen can add so much to a page!

I’ll see you here again tomorrow with another National Scrapbook Day layout!

2018 National Scrapbook Day Layouts – Part 1

With National Scrapbook Day right around the corner, I thought that I would share some layouts that I made with this year’s exclusive National Scrapbook Day Kit and National Scrapbook Day Paper from Creative Memories.  These materials are only available directly from a CM advisor.  If you don’t have an advisor, I would be glad to mail a set to you.

The kit comes with instructions to make two double-page layouts.  But I decided to combine materials from the kit, the coordinating pack of paper, and also the exclusive individual sticker sheet to create my own pages.  I went a little crazy, and used most of two kits, two packs of coordinating paper, and two of the single sticker strips to make 5 double-page layouts of photos from my granddaughter’s last birthday.  If you love these materials and my pages, you might want to get 2 packs of each as they are limited edition items.  Please keep checking back as I’ll be sharing a different two-page layout with you over the next 5 days!

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout1

At first, I made these as individual pages but decided that they would work together as a double-page layout.  I love the bright fun colors, stickers, and my large cherry embellishments on these pages!

To start, cut the background papers to 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″ and adhere to pieces of 12″ x 12″ royal cardstock.  To conserve cardstock, you may cut out the centers of the royal cardstock first.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout1 - Page 082

To make the border, punch one end of the blue paper using the Original Border Maker with Scallop Dot Cartridge.  Cut off of your paper at about 2-1/2″ wide.  Add a 1/2″ yellow strip and a 1/4″ dark orange strip.  Punch small circles from yellow paper, and start layering the circles with your stickers.  I cut my stickers off of the sticker sheet with scissors and played with my positioning before removing the backing and adhering them to the page.  I also used Foam Squares on most of the stickers.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout1 - Page 083

To create the cherry journaling box, use the largest circle cutting pattern from the Custom Cutting System.  Use the blue blade on the inside edge to cut a circle from white cardstock and the green blade on the inside edge to cut a circle from red cardstock.

To create the stem, I used the medium sized circle cutting pattern with the blue blade on the outside edge to cut about a quarter of the way around the cutting pattern.  Without moving the paper or the cutting pattern, I used the red blade on the outside edge to cut in the same spot.  To make the leaves, I used the inside cutting edge and the green blade to create teardrop shapes.  I adhered my top leaf with Foam Squares.

I used the same technique as above to create my double cherry embellishment on the second page.  The smaller cherry is cut from the smallest circle cutting pattern using the red blade on the inside edge.  I used the blue blade on the inside edge of the medium sized circle cutting pattern to cut a red cardstock circle for the sticker.  I adhered this finished piece and the top leaf with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout1 - Page 084

My photos are cropped to 4″ x 4″, and my mats are 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ and cut from royal and red cardstock.  I cut the border sticker and adhered with Foam Squares on the top and bottom of my photos.

KarynCropsWordpressNSDLayout1 - Page 087

Lastly I used our Red Dual-Tip Pen to add faux pen stitching around the scalloped edges of the border sticker on the top and bottom of the photos and also on both sides of my side border.  I used the Red and Green Dual-Tip Pens to add faux pen stitching around my cherry journaling box and embellishments.  I also used our Silver Metallic Dual-Tip Pen to add a little detail to the small cherry.  I love how the addition of the pen work really helped to make these pages pop!

Please send me a message if you need helping purchasing these materials, and please check back tomorrow for another double-page layout!

Get Them Before They’re Gone – Retiring Paper Packs

KarynCrops-ThatsMyGirl

To make room in our product line for lots of great new products, Creative Memories has recently discontinued several popular product collections.  These items have been moved to the Going Gone section of our website and are only available while supplies last.

I would also like to remind everyone that our border maker cartridges and stand alone punches are ordered and stocked in a limited quantity and will not be replaced when they sell out.  So if you really like a border cartridge or a punch, it’s best to order it as soon as possible.

Today, I’m sharing page layouts that I made with a variety of retiring products.  The first layout is made with our Hello Baby Embellishments and Hello Baby Girl Paper Pack and Stickers.  I cut strips to 5/8″ wide and wove them together.  This technique worked great with the arrow designs on the printed paper.

KarynCrops-HelloBabyGirlDarling

My second page is a different take on the striped jumbo heart that I featured in my last blog post.  Instead of stripes, I cut squares into triangles to make a patchwork heart.  The cute prints and stickers are from our A Year to Remember Part 2 Paper Pack and Stickers.  The background paper is a sheet from a sold-out paper pack, but the wood print paper from our Hello Baby Boy Paper Pack would be a nice substitution.  The title card is from our Natural Elegance Variety Mat Pack.

KarynCropsJust2OfUs

To make the jumbo heart featured above, fold a 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock (any color) in half.  Sketch half of a heart on the fold line and cut it out.  Cut a variety of 2″ squares and cut them in half on the diagonal.   Adhere the triangle pieces onto the heart piece leaving a lot of over-hang on the edge pieces.  Be mindful of the pattern as you assemble.  I found it helpful to lay out all of the pieces first before adhering them.  After adhering, cut off the over-hang.

My next layout has quite a bit of detail and was more time-consuming to make.  But I enjoyed making it, and I love the finished product!

KarynCrops-DaddyIsMyPrince

I used turquoise printed paper from our discontinued Fresh Picks Paper Pack and solid cardstock from our discontinued Hello Baby Solid Cardstock Pack, and the background paper is from our Achievements Paper Pack.  The stickers are from our discontinued Hello Baby Boy Stickers.  And the cute clouds were made with our sold-out Word Bubble Punch.

To make castle:
Step 1:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch two borders from the light gray cardstock and trim off of cardstock at 3.5”.
Step 2:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch one border from the light gray cardstock and cut off of cardstock at 4.25”.  Cut this piece into two pieces that are 2” wide each.  These will be the towers.
Step 3:  Using Original Border Maker with Film Strip Cartridge, punch borders from the dark  gray cardstock and use the relief pieces as the brick for the castle walls and towers.
Step 4:  From the dark gray cardstock, cut two pieces that are 2” x 3” and trim to narrow triangles to form the tower peaks.

To make crown:
Step 1:  Using Original Border Maker with Crown Cartridge, punch a border from the light blue cardstock and cut off of cardstock at 2”.  Cut off a 2” wide piece and trim sides at an angle.
Step 2:  Using Original Border Maker with Diamond Scroll Cartridge, make one punch in the center of the crown to form the design.  Cut a small piece of the light grey cardstock to put behind the diamond scroll cut-out.
Step 3:  Adorn with rhinestones.

To finish page:
Step 1:  Cut two sheets of leaf paper to 11” x 7.5”.
Step 2:  From left-over pieces of leaf paper, hand cut with scissors an assortment of leaf patterns to form vines for castle.  You could also substitute with a vine punched from our Garden Vine Punch.
Step 3:  Double mat photos with light blue and dark gray cardstock.
Step 4:  Using the Word Bubble Punch, punch two pieces from the light blue cardstock and trim into clouds.  Using Original Border Maker with Bubble Cartridge, punch circles from small scrap of pink paper.  These will be the cheeks on the clouds.  Use black pen to draw eyes and mouths on clouds.
Step 5:  Assemble page as shown and add title.
Step 6:  Use Foam Squares to adhere stickers.

Thankful…

thankfulwatermark

This beautiful page is a visual reminder of two little people who we are most grateful for this Thanksgiving season.  The page is on my old Creative Memories Everyday Display in my kitchen, and I can’t help but smile whenever I look at it.

watermarks-page-003

I used our Bats in the Belfry paper that has cute Halloween prints on one side and neutral prints on the backsides.  The leaves were punched with our Maple Leaf and Leaf Trio Punches, and the brown vine was punched with our Garden Vine Punch. I sketched and free-hand cut the tree trunk myself, and I used our Gold ABC/123 Stickers for the title.  Please visit my website to purchase any of these products.

Happy Thanksgiving!

September Crop Club

2-page-watermarks-page-003

At my September Crop Club, we made three double-page layouts using the same page sketch, one pack of Denim Blues Paper, one pack of Denim Blues Embellishments and one sheet of white cardstock.  We also used our new Lace Scallop and Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridges and our new Shooting Star Punch.  Our Denim Blues ABC/123 Stickers were an additional item that could be added.  Please contact me to purchase this kit.

cropclubsept16

We used this page sketch that my friend, Noreen Smith, designed for Creative Memories.

2-page-watermarks-page-003

This page features our Lace Scallop Border Maker Cartridge and a mixture of the flower and button embellishments for very sweet and feminine look.  It’s hard to see, but the background paper features tiny light blue dots on a white background.

2-page-watermarks-page-002

For a more masculine look, I used a large square in the background instead of a circle and also featured our new Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridge and the button embellishments.  Our new Repositionable Tape Runner Refill was perfect for adhering the delicate Lace Scallop and Circle Weave borders!

2-page-watermarks-page-001

This fun and spirited layout features our new Shooting Star Punch.  The bottom strips with the stars were cut from the backside of the background papers.  After cutting off the strips, I “taped” them back to the background papers with the striped strips.  The white letter stickers are an old CM product.

New Denim Blues

watermarks-page-004

The response to our new Denim Blues Collection has been tremendous!  It can be used for feminine and masculine pages and everything in-between.  Everyone is absolutely loving it!  The collection includes an actual Denim Coverset, Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Letter Stickers.

I made the page above on a Spargo 12 x 12 Plain Page and used the Denim Blues Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Stickers.  I also used our new Circle Weave Border Maker Cartridge to punch the border.  Our Original Border Maker System is now available with three cartridges instead of one – all for the same original price of $33.50!  For instructions on how to make this page, please visit our CM Blog at this link.

denim-two-page

I also used the Denim Paper Pack, Embellishments and ABC/123 Stickers and Spargo 12 x 12 Plain Pages for this double page layout.  With my scissors, I snipped around the denim paper squares to make frayed edges that remind me of my favorite pair of worn blue jeans.  For complete instructions on how to make this layout, please visit the CM Blog using this link.

It’s Graduation Time!

Is your family celebrating a graduation this year?  Our new Achievements Collection has the perfect Fast 2 Fabulous Album, paper, stickers and embellishments to preserve your memories of this special day.  The white, black and grey hues are lovely and provide the perfect neutral background to personalize with your school colors.  I created these layouts for our CM Blog.  To see instructions for these pages and to see other blog posts with more graduation ideas, please visit my website and click on the Ideas tab.

Fresh Picks

Our Fresh Picks product collection is very pretty and perfect for spring!  I debuted the page layouts below at my recent weekend retreat to rave reviews.  I used the Fresh Pick Paper Pack, Fresh Picks Slide-In Pack, Border Maker with Lace Flower and Picket Fence Cartridges, our new Corner Rounder, additional sheets of white cardstock, and Foam Square Adhesives.

Blog Photos - Page 006

To make the border above, punch 2 white borders and 2 purple borders using the Border Maker and Lace Flower Cartridge.  Layer the white borders underneath the purple borders.  The butterfly border and the large butterfly are cut from sheets of the paper.  (This paper pack includes sheets of pre-printed borders and title boxes.)  To make the beautiful title, I trimmed a Slide-In card and notched the corners with our new Corner Rounder.  The large butterfly is attached with Foam Square Adhesives.  Photos are mounted on white cardstock and Fresh Pick Paper.

Blog Photos - Page 003

For the page above, I layered a white Lace Flower border underneath a purple Lace Flower border and cut it in half to use on each side of the butterfly Slide-In card.  The Blissful Days title is also a Slide-In card, and the journaling box was cut from an additional Slide-In card.  The large photo is 4×6″ and the two square photos are 3.25″ x 3.25″.  Photos are mounted on white cardstock.  Large butterflies are hand-cut from a sheet of the paper and adhered with Foam Square Adhesives.

Blog Photos - Page 005

To make the border above, punch 2 Picket Fences with our Border Maker and layer underneath the pre-printed border.  The butterflies are hand-cut from a sheet of the paper and adhered with Foam Square Adhesives.  The photos are 3.75″x3.75″.  I used small scraps of paper for the purple mat and the floral mat.  The journaling box is cut from a Slide-In card.

Blog Photos - Page 004

For this page, I used our old Jumbo Circle Cutting Pattern to make the large purple circle, and the floral paper is a scrap piece.  Punch 3 purple Lace Flower borders using the Border Maker.  Cut in half the adjoining bars along the bottom edge of the borders.  Use our Tape Runner or Mini Tape Runner to put adhesive on the backside of each flower.  Adhere the first flower by lining up the top adjoining bar (the uncut bar) with the edge of the purple circle.  Stick the first flower down and curve the border slightly to adhere the second flower.  Work your way around the circle one flower at a time.  Assemble the border using the instructions for the page above.
