Floral Scrapbooking Layouts

DSC_0515

Typically National Scrapbook Day is celebrated on May 6th.  But this year, my scrapping buddies and I are celebrating with a workshop on April 28th and 29th.  To celebrate the event, Creative Memories produced an exclusive National Scrapbook Day Kit that is only available directly from a CM advisor.  The kit contains paper and stickers in shades of purple, green and teal and comes with instructions for 4 different two-page layouts.

However, I used the kit to create my own floral inspired layouts using our new Cherry Blossom Punch and a few other tools.  I also added some White, Black and Peacock Cardstock that helped to temper all of the bright colors and patterns of the designer paper.

KarynCrops.wordpress.comNationalScrapbookDay - Page 059

This first page is ready for a group photo of my friends attending my National Scrapbook workshop.  In addition to the Cherry Blossom Punch, I also used our new 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch, Leaf Trip Punch, and Original Border Maker System with Scallop Dot Cartridge.

  1. From White Cardstock, cut two strips to 12” x 1-1/2” and adhere to top and bottom of decorative paper.
  2. From Eggplant Cardstock, use Border Maker with Scallop Dot Cartridge to punch two borders. Cut off of your cardstock at 1”.  Adhere to the bottom and top of your white strips respectively.
  3. Cut a 12” x 2” strip of decorative paper, and adhere to the bottom of the page as shown.
  4. From White Cardstock, cut a 7-1/4” x 5-1/4” photo mat. Adhere photo mat to page with random pieces of Black, Peacock and Eggplant Cardstock behind it.  See photo.
  5. Cut a 2-3/8” x 4” piece from Black Cardstock and notch top ends with 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch. Cut a 2” x 3-1/2” piece from White Cardstock and notch top ends and punch hole with 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.
  6. From decorative paper, Peacock, White and Black Cardstock, make a variety of flowers using Cherry Blossom Punch, small flower and small circle punches.
  7. Add pen detail to flowers and faux pen stitching as shown.

KarynCrops.wordpress.comNationalScrapbookDay - Page 058

My second page is ready for photos from my garden.  I just filled my window boxes with pretty annuals and will get a nice photo once they fill out some.

  1. From black cardstock, use Argyle Punch to punch a border.
  2. Cut a 9-1/4” x 8-1/2” piece of black cardstock.
  3. Cut two 4-1/4” x 6-1/4” pieces from purple decorative paper and two 4” x 6” pieces from White Cardstock. Assemble for photo mats.
  4. Cut two 4-5/8” x 2” pieces from green decorative paper, and cut ends at an angle as shown to make window boxes.
  5. Assemble page as shown. Adhere window boxes with Foam Squares.
  6. Adorn window boxes with pieces punched from White Cardstock with the Garden Vine Punch and small flowers. Adhere flowers with Foam Squares.
  7. Make three larger flowers using Cherry Blossom Punch and Leaf Trio Punch.
  8. Add pen detail as shown, and add a title with Black ABC/123 Stickers.

KarynCrops.wordpress.comNationalScrapbookDay2 - Page 043

My last layout is a two-page spread that will be perfect for photos of my granddaughter, Mother’s Day, or a spring bridal shower.

  1. Cut six strips from decorative paper to 11-1/2” x 1-½” and notch one end of each into a ribbon edge.  Adhere ½” from bottom of pages.
  2. Cut three photo mats from Peacock Cardstock to 4-1/4” x 6-1/4”. Cut 3 pieces from decorative paper to 4-1/4” x ½”.  Add to pages as shown.
  3. From Eggplant, White and Black Cardstock and decorative paper, make a variety of flowers using Cherry Blossom Punch, Leaf Trio Punch and small flower and circle punches. Add detail to flowers with black pen.
  4. To make journal box, cut a 3” x 4-1/2” peacock piece and a 2-3/4” x 4-1/4” white piece. Notch ends with 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.  Add faux pen stitching.
  5. Add title with Black ABC/123 Stickers.

Spring Blog Hop

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster4

Hello and welcome to our Creative Life Scrapbooking’s Spring Blog Hop!  We’re so glad that you’re hopping with us today and hope that you’re getting inspired by what you see.

I’m absolutely in love with the new Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy and Baby Girl Collections from Creative Memories.  In fact, they might be my favorite collections yet.  Although they are being promoted as baby collections, the paper and some of the embellishments and stickers are neutral enough to be used for almost any kind of scrapbook page.  (Please visit my website to see the entire collection and purchase any of the items.)

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster5

Today I’m sharing an Easter layout and a Mother’s Day card that I created with the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Paper and Stickers and tools from Creative Memories.  As soon as I saw the colors in this collection, I knew that they would be perfect for last year’s Easter photos.  I’m a sucker for wood-grained or wood-paneled paper, and this collection has two gorgeous sheets with a deer motif.  Although not inherently Easter-inspiring, I just had to use this sheet for my layout.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster1

I love making pretty pages, and this layout has a lot of beautiful detail.  I enlarged the signature photo to 5″ x 7″ and drew further attention to it with a faux grapevine wreath cut from three shades of brown cardstock.  The fence-like border at the bottom ties the pages together and also brings some of the wood-paneled paper to the first page.  To create movement and more cohesion, I repeated the garden vine embellishments in three spots.  Lastly, the yellow daffodils made with our new Cherry Blossom Punch and Embossed Trio Button Punch add a final bright spring touch to the layout.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster6

To make this layout, you’ll need:

Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Paper
Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Stickers
Woodland Whimsy Baby Embellishments
Watercolor Green ABC/123 Stickers
Yellow paper (I used yellow paper from the new CM Fur Buddies Paper Pack.)
Brown Cardstock in three shades
White and Evergreen Cardstock
Custom Cuttting System with old CM Jumbo Circle Pattern
Original Border Maker System with Lace Scallop Cartridge and Zig Zag Cartridge
Garden Vine Punch
Cherry Blossom Punch
Embossed Trio Button Punch
All-Purpose Scissors
Foam Squares
Tape Runner
Repositionable Tape Refill
Brown Dual-Tip Pen
(Please visit my website to purchase any of these items.)

  1.  Cut the deer paper to 7″ x 12″ and cut a sheet of the light green paper to 5.5″ x 12″.  Adhere the deer paper to the light green paper making sure to end up with a 12″ x 12″ piece.
  2. The borders were made with 1-1/2″ high strips of wood paper edged with layered cardstock and paper borders punched with the border maker system and zig zag cartridge.  From white cardstock, use border maker and lace scallop cartridge to punch borders and adhere the sticker strips.  Adhere this piece to the wood border with foam squares.
  3. Cut three hollow rings from the solid brown cardstock (I used three different shades.) using the old CM jumbo circle cutting pattern.  Use the green blade on the inside edge to cut first and without moving the cutting pattern, cut again with the red blade on the inside edge.
  4. Punch vines from the dark green paper and solid evergreen cardstock.  Layer the dark green pieces on top of the solid evergreen pieces.
  5. Make daffodils with the cherry blossom punch and embossed trio button punch.  Slightly fold the petals to give some dimension. Adhere the flowers with foam squares.
  6. Mat photos with a narrow white mat and a larger mat from peach plaid paper.
  7. Assemble page as shown and add pen detail and journaling.
  8. The arrow for my title is from the embellishment pack.  I adhered the bunny and mushroom stickers with foam squares.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster2

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster3

For my second project, I made a Mother’s Day card from the same materials.  The basket card opens up to reveal a bookmark and a bouquet of paper flowers.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 058

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 059

My bookmark measures 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″.  I notched the ends and punched the hole with our new CM 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.  The flower was made with our Cherry Blossom, Daisy and Embossed Trio Button Punches.  I adhered the flower and stickers with foam squares.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 057

To make the basket, cut a sheet of brown cardstock to 4-1/2″ x 12″ and fold in half to make a 4-1/2″ x 6″ piece.  Keeping the fold on the bottom, cut around the top part of the piece using our Custom Cutting System with the 4″ x 6″ oval pattern and blue blade on the outside edge.  Without moving the pattern, cut around the pattern with the red blade on the outside edge to make the handle of the basket.  With straight trimmer, cut across the top of the basket to reveal the handles as shown below.  Trim the sides of the piece if needed to match up the handles with the sides of the basket.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard2

I embellished the front of my basket with a mat from the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Variety Mat Pack and paper flowers.  I added more flowers to the inside of the card as shown in the photo above.  This would make a cute Mother’s Day, Birthday, Shower or Graduation card.

Christmas Past Crop Club

watermarks-page-003

I hold a monthly Crop Club where we gather to make 3 double-page layouts using one page sketch, one pack of paper and one pack of embellishments.  Attendees only bring a few basic tools, and I provide CM’s newest tools for everyone to try.

In November, we made pages using our new Creative Memories Christmas Past Paper and Embellishments and the page sketch below by my friend, Noreen Smith.  You can download this sketch with instructions and also view a video demonstration on Noreen’s Blog, Organized & Creative Mom.

cropclub7christmaspastsketch

This sketch made a super cute Halloween page and also beautiful Christmas pages.  I incorporated our Garden Vine Punch and our new Snowflake Chain Cartridge for our Border Maker System on the layout below.  I also added a photo mat from Beige Cardstock to the first page in order to have some of the beige color on both pages.  It’s hard to see in the photo, but I did pen stitching around the reindeer embellishment to make it pop.  I skipped journaling on these pages, but will add journaling to the next layouts.

2-page-watermarks-page-003

On the pages below, I added photo mats and narrow strips from our Gold Shimmer Cardstock.  I made the photo mat on the second page into a ribbon.

2-page-watermarks-page-004

On the layout below, I added some leave embellishments punched from our Silver Shimmer Cardstock with our Maple Leaf and Leaf Trio Punches.  These silver shimmer pieces really help to brighten up these pages.

Please contact me or visit my CM website to purchase any of these products.  We’re taking a break from Crop Club in December, but will start back up in January.  Please contact me if you’re in the Champaign-Urbana area and would like to join us.

Cheers!

Christmas Blog Hop

watermarks-page-002

Welcome to our Christmas Blog Hop!  Six Creative Memories Advisors from North America have joined together to provide you with ideas and inspiration for your Christmas paper crafting.  At the bottom of my blog post, you’ll find links to take you to the next stops on our Blog Hop.  Be sure to visit all of the sites and leave comments for us!

For my project, I created a 2-page scrapbook layout using some items from the new Creative Memories Christmas Past Collection.  I also used several of our newest tools to create the lush layered border and embellishments.  Our new Gold Shimmer Cardstock provides an extra touch of elegance and decadence for these pages.

my-joy-2-page

I created the gorgeous trailing vine border across the tops of the pages with our Garden Vine Punch.  This punch immediately sold out when it was first introduced in October.  It’s back in stock but only available while supplies last.  So I suggest purchasing this punch sooner than later.

watermarks-page-002

I also incorporated a new take on the faux Maple Leaf Punch poinsettias that I first created for the Creative Memories Blog post, Christmas in July.  These new poinsettias are white and include layered greenery punched from our Leaf Trio Punch.  (Below is a peak at my first poinsettia border.  Please visit the CM Blog to see the full blog post with instructions.)

Thankful…

thankfulwatermark

This beautiful page is a visual reminder of two little people who we are most grateful for this Thanksgiving season.  The page is on my old Creative Memories Everyday Display in my kitchen, and I can’t help but smile whenever I look at it.

watermarks-page-003

I used our Bats in the Belfry paper that has cute Halloween prints on one side and neutral prints on the backsides.  The leaves were punched with our Maple Leaf and Leaf Trio Punches, and the brown vine was punched with our Garden Vine Punch. I sketched and free-hand cut the tree trunk myself, and I used our Gold ABC/123 Stickers for the title.  Please visit my website to purchase any of these products.

Painted Harvest Crop Club

paintedharvest1

We used the new Painted Harvest Paper and Embellishments, Garden Vine Border Punch, and Midnight Star Border Maker Cartridge from Creative Memories at our October Crop Club session.  This collection is full of vibrant prints and lovely embellishments that are perfect for autumn photos.

paintedharvest2

We used the sketch below from my friend, Noreen Smith, to make three double-page layouts.  We opted to add an additional photo to each page.

cropclub6paintedharvestsketch

watermarksdoublepage-page-001

I used the new Ruby ABC/123 Stickers for the Title on this layout.  I also used a small heart punch and scrap paper to make the pumpkin embellishments.  The Garden Vine border was punched from Evergreen Cardstock.

watermarksdoublepage-page-002

watermarksdoublepage-page-003

That’s our new Peacock Cardstock on these last pages – such a great color!  The peacock borders were punched with our Original Border Maker System and new Midnight Star Border Maker Cartridge.  We did a bit of piecing in order to get a strip of the wood-grained paper on each end.

Happy Fall!

Halloween Blog Hop

watermarks-page-008

Hello and welcome to our Halloween Blog Hop!  Today I’m sharing a fun Halloween sampler that I made with the new Bats in the Belfry Paper Pack, Stickers and Embellishments from Creative Memories.

This is a great project for those of you who love to decorate for Halloween and for those who don’t have Halloween photos to scrapbook.  This is also a fun and easy project to make with children.  Just cut out the squares and let the kids decorate with embellishments and stickers.

watermarks-page-006

The sampler looks great displayed on an easel, in a 12″ x 12″ photo frame or on your old Creative Memories Everyday Display.  You can even add Halloween photos in one or two of the squares if you desire!

watermarks-page-007

I used our Garden Vine Punch (which is currently on back-order) and our Original Border Maker with our new Midnight Star and Picket Fence Cartridges.  But you could adapt and use any other punches or cartridges.

All tools and materials are available from Creative Memories.  To make this sampler, you’ll need:

Solid Grey 12″ x 12″ Cardstock
Solid Beige 12″ x 12″ Cardstock
Solid Black 12″ x 12″ Cardstock
Bats in the Belfry Paper Pack
Bats in the Belfry Stickers
Bats in the Belfry Embellishments
12-Inch Straight Trimmer
Custom Cutting System with Circle Patterns
Original Border Maker System with Picket Fence and Midnight Star Cartridges
Garden Vine Punch (Currently on back-order)
Tape Runner
Foam Squares
Click here to shop for any of these tools and/or materials.

Instructions:
1.  Cut beige cardstock into five 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ squares.
2.  Cut four pieces of patterned paper into 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ squares and adhere to the beige squares.
3.  Using the border maker system with the midnight star cartridge, punch a border across the black cardstock.  Cut a 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ square from black cardstock keeping the star border as the top of your square.  Adhere this piece to your last beige square.
4.  Cut beige cardstock into a 3-3/4″ x 11-1/2″ piece.  Cut haunted mansion paper to
3-5/8″ x 11-3/8″ and adhere to beige piece.
5.  For added dimension, you can run the large round end of a black pen across the edges of your pieces.
6.  Using the custom cutting system and the 1-1/2″ circle pattern, cut a circle from the patterned paper using the red blade on the outside edge.  Using the same circle pattern, use the green blade on the outside edge to cut a circle from the black cardstock.  Adhere the patterned circle on top of the black circle.
7.  Adhere all pieces to a sheet of 12″ x 12″ grey cardstock.
8.  Using the border maker system and picket fence cartridge, punch fences from the black cardstock and the wood patterned paper.  Add using foam squares.
9.  Add embellishments and stickers using foam squares on some as shown.  Add rhinestone embellishments.
