Blooming Medallion Scrapbook Borders

Yesterday advisors and customers from all over the world opened our Secret Boxes that we bought last month from Creative Memories. The contents of the Secret Box were a surprise, and we purchased the boxes on the good faith that we would love the contents – and CM did not disappoint! This is the third Secret Box that CM has offered, and each one has contained a paper pack, stickers or embellishments, a tool and some other small surprises. I’ve been happy with each Secret Box, and I especially love this one! Our next Secret Box will be available to purchase in August with an open date in September.

Flowers make me happy! And sweet smelling roses are one of my favorites! So I was thrilled with the Shabby Chic Rose Paper and Embellishments. And I can make my own rose embellishments and borders with the Blooming Medallion Punch! After opening my box yesterday, I did just that. I pulled out all of my different shades of red cardstock and started to play. Currently CM offers three shades of red cardstock – Cranberry, Crimson and Firecracker Shimmer. Recently our product line also included Red and Scarlet Cardstock. Each shade looks great with the Shabby Chic Rose Paper, and I created multi-dimensional roses by adhering a 1″ circle behind each punched piece.

I rummaged through my collection of current and retired punches and border maker cartridges and created a set of borders that range from simple to more intricate. I paired my borders with Dark Green and Charcoal Cardstock and used Foam Squares to add additional dimension.

I created these simple borders by layering the Blooming Medallion Punch pieces with 1″ circles in a variety of the red cardstock shades that I mentioned above. I used from left to right, the Garden Vine Border Punch, the Climbing Vine Border Maker Cartridge with Spring Leaf Punch and the On the Vine Border Punch. The Climbing Vine Border Maker Cartridge and Spring Leaf Punch are current items that are available for purchase.

The Blooming Medallion Punch coordinates nicely with so many of our past and current punches and border maker cartridges! The combinations seem endless! I used from top to bottom, the Simple Leaf Border Maker Cartridge, Wheatfield Border Punch and Rose Chain Border Maker Cartridge and the Doily Border Punch with Spring Leaf Punch. The Spring Leaf Punch is a current item that is available for purchase.

My last set of borders are a bit more intricate and include a few more layers. For these, I used the new 5 Leaf Punch and the new Spring Leaf Punch with some recently retired border punches. I always like to create and show new ways to use our older tools as I know that so many of you have purchased these in the past.

Border on Left:
1. Use the Baroque Border Punch to punch a border from Charcoal Cardstock, and cut off of cardstock at 2-1/2″.
2. Cut a strip of Dark Green Cardstock to 1-3/8″ x 12″. Cut a strip of Light Gray Cardstock to 1-1/4″ x 12″. Layer and adhere pieces to the baroque border.
3. Use the Blooming Medallion Punch to punch roses from Cranberry Cardstock. Use the old Mini Circle Punch to punch 1″ circles from Scarlet Cardstock. Layer and adhere the pieces. Use Foam Squares to adhere to the border piece.
4. Use the Spring Leaf Punch to punch leaves from Dark Green Cardstock, and adhere as shown.

Middle Border:
1. Use the Argyle Border Punch to punch a border from Dark Green Cardstock.
2. Use the Blooming Medallion Punch to punch roses from Firecracker Shimmer Cardstock. Use the old Mini Circle Punch to punch 1″ circles from Crimson Cardstock. Layer and adhere the pieces. Use Foam Squares to adhere to the border piece.
3. Use the Spring Leaf Punch to punch leaves from Dark Green Cardstock, and adhere as shown.
4. Use the Songbirds Border Punch to punch a border from Charcoal Cardstock. Cut apart with scissors, and adhere to border as shown.

Border on Right:
1. Use the Lattice Border Punch to punch a border from Charcoal Cardstock.
2. Use the Blooming Medallion Punch to punch roses from Cranberry Cardstock. Use the old Mini Circle Punch to punch 1″ circles from Scarlet Cardstock. Layer and adhere the pieces. Use Foam Squares to adhere to the border piece.
3. Use the 5 Leaf Punch to punch leaves from Dark Green Cardstock, and adhere to border as shown.

I hope that I’ve inspired you to pull out some of your old punches and border maker cartridges and play! I would love to see what you create. Please feel free to share your creations on Karyn’s Croppers on Facebook.

Secret Garden Scrapbook Layouts

Oh my goodness!  The new Secret Garden Collection from Creative Memories just might be their most beautiful collection yet!  It’s full of soft watercolor designs in shades of purple and teal.  The Fast2Fab Album with Pre-Designed Pages is absolutely stunning, and has received rave reviews from my customers.  At my recent weekend retreat, I sold 6 of the Fast2Fab Albums!  Personally, I love the Secret Garden Stickers most of all.  The sticker pack is full of lovely floral arrangements and sweet sentiments that are perfect for adorning pretty pages and cards!

We used the Secret Garden Paper and Stickers at my Crop Club last month.  At Crop Club, we use one page sketch, one pack of paper, one pack of stickers or embellishments, and some cardstock to make three double-page layouts.  Please contact me if you live in the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois area and would like to attend my Crop Club.  Or contact me if you’re interested in participating in my Crop Club by mail and would like to purchase my Secret Garden Crop Club Kit.  Below are the three layouts that can be created from the kit.

KarynCropsWordpressSecretGardenCropClubPages - Page 055

We used a 1-2-3 Page Sketch created by my friend, Noreen Smith.  Noreen has created a series of simple sketches that require only three cuts from one sheet of designer paper, and she shares some of these sketches on her blog, Organized & Creative Mom.  She has recently created an e-book of sketches that you can purchase from her blog.

The first layout is adorned with Secret Garden Stickers and also punch outs from CM’s new Double Heart Punch and borders punched with the Doily Border Punch.  The corners of the journaling box were punched with CM’s new 4-Way Heart & Stars Corner and Hole Punch.

KarynCropsWordpressSecretGardenCropClubPages - Page 057

My second layout features a bottom border punched with the Original Border Maker System and the Picket Fence Cartridge.  The Picket Fence Cartridge is one of three cartridges that come with the system when purchased.  A thin 12″ x 5/8″ strip of designer paper was threaded through the picket fence to create a ribbon effect.

I also included a few hearts from the Double Heart Punch and another journaling box with corners punched with the 4-Way Heart & Stars Corner and Hole Punch.

My third layout features a lovely border that I created with the recently sold-out Teardrop Lattice Border Punch.  I punched one border and cut it in half lengthwise and adhered each half to each page and topped them with border stickers adhered with Foam Squares. (This is a good reminder that CM’s punches and cartridges for the Original Border Maker System are considered limited edition items and are only available in a set quantity.  These items are projected to stay in inventory for 3-12 months, but some sell out quickly.)

On all three of my layouts, you’ll notice that I adhered most of the flower, butterfly and title stickers with Foam Squares.  I love the added dimension that the Foam Squares provide to my pages.

You’ll also notice that all three layouts feature a different way to arrange five 4″ x 6″ and 6″ x 4″ photos.  However, you can crop your photos into smaller sizes and arrange them to your liking.

I love all three of these layouts and can’t decide which is my favorite.  Which one do you like best?  Please leave me a comment – I would love to hear from you!

I look forward to making and sharing more pretty pages with this beautiful collection!  Please contact me if you’re interested in purchasing the materials to create these layouts.

Forever Yours & Woodland Whimsy Layouts

Several product collections from Creative Memories are now in limited supply and available while supplies last.  Before they’re gone, I wanted to share a few layouts with you.  My first pages feature the Forever Yours collection.  Forever Yours is elegant with shades of pink, rose, gold, navy and silver and perfect for wedding photos.  On March 5th, our new Black & White wedding collection will be released.  If black and white is not the color palette for your wedding photos, I suggest purchasing the Forever Yours items sooner than later.

KarynCropsWordpressForeverMadeWithLoveWoodlandWhimsy - Page 084

My first layout is quick and easy but yet so beautiful.  I conserved paper by cutting both the silver and navy paper in half at 6″ and adhering to the 12″ x 12″ paper insert from the paper pack.   These inserts serve as a label for the paper packs and show photos of each sheet of paper in the pack.  They are also photo-safe and can be used in our albums.  With this trick, I saved two 12″ x 6″ pieces of designer paper.

I adhered a border sticker to the paper seam and used the Doily Border Punch to punch two borders from white cardstock.  I used the Custom Cutting System with the Circle Cutting Pattern to cut my photo and also to cut a photo mat from the navy paper.  I used Foam Squares under the flower and title stickers and added a few grey pearl gemstones.

KarynCropsWordpressForeverMadeWithLoveWoodlandWhimsy - Page 083

My second page is also a snap to make!  I matted a piece of 6″ x 12″ rose patterned paper with navy cardstock and adhered down the center of a sheet of the multi-print paper.  My photos are 4″ x 6″ and also matted with navy cardstock.  I used the Original Border Maker with the Heart Chain Cartridge to punch three navy borders and adhered them using our Repositionable Tape.  If you don’t yet have CM’s Original Border Maker, the Heart Chain Cartridge is one of three cartridges than come with the border maker when purchased.  Lastly I added a paper flower from the Forever Yours Embellishments and leaf and title stickers adhered with Foam Squares.

KarynCropsWordpressForeverMadeWithLoveWoodlandWhimsy - Page 087

Although the Forever Yours Paper is perfect for wedding photos, the prints are neutral enough to be used with all sorts of photos.  To make the page above, I cut two sheets of pink patterned paper in half on the diagonal and attached to another insert from a paper pack.  Since the paper wouldn’t fit in my trimmer when turned on the diagonal, I folded it in half and cut with my scissors.  I used my flower embellishments and stickers to cover the uneven cut lines.  You will need to cut apart the border sticker to make it fit on the page.  I used a Gold Dual-Tip Pen to edge my Forever Yours flower embellishments,  added small flowers punched from Gold Shimmer Cardstock to some, and added pearl gemstones to the centers.  My photo is 6″ x 4″ and triple matted with two pieces of Gold Shimmer Cardstock and white print paper.  The largest gold mat is 7-3/4″ x 6″, and the white piece is 7-1/2″ x 5-3/4″.  The smallest gold mat is 6-1/8″ x 4-1/8″.  My title piece was cut from a Variety Mat and is matted on a gold shimmer circle and a paper flower embellishment.  I hand-cut the ribbon pieces from Gold Shimmer Cardstock.

My last page is a reminder that two of my favorite collections from the last year are also being discontinued and are in limited supply.  I’ve made many baby and non-baby pages with both the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl and Baby Boy Collections.  But I love making pretty pages, and I just had to share this final baby page made with the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Papers and Embellishments.

I used the Custom Cutting System with the old Jumbo Circle Cutting Pattern to cut a hollow circle from brown cardstock.  Using the Original Border Maker System with the Sprout Cartridge, I cut two borders from brown cardstock.  Using the Cherry Blossom Punch and other flower punches, I created layered flowers from the pink designer paper.  My leaves were punched with the Maple Leaf Punch and old Leaf Trio Punch.  I used the Outdoor Adventure Quartet Punch to punch a single bird from black cardstock.  My photo is 7″ x 5″ and matted with brown cardstock.  To assemble, I recommend laying out all of the pieces first before you start to adhere.  You’ll have to cut the sprout borders in order to wind them around the circle.  I adhered all of the flowers, the bird and the title embellishments with Foam Squares.  You’ll notice that I also edged my flower pieces with a brown pen and used the brown pen to draw veins on the leaves and bark lines on the sprout borders and the large circle piece.  I also added a pen detail around the entire edge of the page.

Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now-June Blog Hop

Welcome to our June Blog Hop!  The team at Creative Life Scrapbooking is back with a blog hop full of summer scrapbooking layouts and ideas.  At the bottom of my post, you’ll find the link to take you to the next stop on the hop.

Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now-June Blog Hop

Sweet goodness is the perfect description of the new Made With Love Collection from Creative Memories!  The papers, stickers and variety mats are full of cheerful prints and food-inspired motifs.  This ensemble is the perfect complement for all of your food and kitchen related photos and memories.

Summer Scrapbook Ideas You Can Use Now-June Blog Hop

My first layout preserves the memory of my granddaughter eating her first ear of sweet corn in my kitchen.  The Made with Love Collection seems to be created especially for me as my kitchen is red and yellow and full of antique and vintage items.  To evoke the look of my battenberg lace curtains, I framed the pages with borders made with CM’s Original Border Maker System and Scallop Dot Cartridge.  I cut apart a border punched with our new Doily Border Punch to frame the title.

I adhered the floral stickers with Foam Squares and added further embellishment with a few leaves punched with CM’s Leaf Trio Punch.  I finished the page with faux pen stitching and journaling.

For my second layout, I created mini cutting boards with our 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch to mat my photos.  I edged the strip in the middle with borders punched with the Original Border Maker System with Zig Zag Cartridge.

Again, I adhered the stickers with Foam Squares, added a few leaves punched with the Leaf Trio Punch, and finished the page with some pen details.

My last layout shows that you don’t need food related photos in order to love and use the Made With Love Collection.  The sweet prints and floral accents are perfect for a variety of other uses.  I used some black cardstock and CM’s Original Border Maker System with the Scallop Dot and Zig Zag Cartridges to really make this page pop.
