Forever Yours & Woodland Whimsy Layouts

Several product collections from Creative Memories are now in limited supply and available while supplies last.  Before they’re gone, I wanted to share a few layouts with you.  My first pages feature the Forever Yours collection.  Forever Yours is elegant with shades of pink, rose, gold, navy and silver and perfect for wedding photos.  On March 5th, our new Black & White wedding collection will be released.  If black and white is not the color palette for your wedding photos, I suggest purchasing the Forever Yours items sooner than later.

My first layout is quick and easy but yet so beautiful.  I conserved paper by cutting both the silver and navy paper in half at 6″ and adhering to the 12″ x 12″ paper insert from the paper pack.   These inserts serve as a label for the paper packs and show photos of each sheet of paper in the pack.  They are also photo-safe and can be used in our albums.  With this trick, I saved two 12″ x 6″ pieces of designer paper.

I adhered a border sticker to the paper seam and used the Doily Border Punch to punch two borders from white cardstock.  I used the Custom Cutting System with the Circle Cutting Pattern to cut my photo and also to cut a photo mat from the navy paper.  I used Foam Squares under the flower and title stickers and added a few grey pearl gemstones.

My second page is also a snap to make!  I matted a piece of 6″ x 12″ rose patterned paper with navy cardstock and adhered down the center of a sheet of the multi-print paper.  My photos are 4″ x 6″ and also matted with navy cardstock.  I used the Original Border Maker with the Heart Chain Cartridge to punch three navy borders and adhered them using our Repositionable Tape.  If you don’t yet have CM’s Original Border Maker, the Heart Chain Cartridge is one of three cartridges than come with the border maker when purchased.  Lastly I added a paper flower from the Forever Yours Embellishments and leaf and title stickers adhered with Foam Squares.

Although the Forever Yours Paper is perfect for wedding photos, the prints are neutral enough to be used with all sorts of photos.  To make the page above, I cut two sheets of pink patterned paper in half on the diagonal and attached to another insert from a paper pack.  Since the paper wouldn’t fit in my trimmer when turned on the diagonal, I folded it in half and cut with my scissors.  I used my flower embellishments and stickers to cover the uneven cut lines.  You will need to cut apart the border sticker to make it fit on the page.  I used a Gold Dual-Tip Pen to edge my Forever Yours flower embellishments,  added small flowers punched from Gold Shimmer Cardstock to some, and added pearl gemstones to the centers.  My photo is 6″ x 4″ and triple matted with two pieces of Gold Shimmer Cardstock and white print paper.  The largest gold mat is 7-3/4″ x 6″, and the white piece is 7-1/2″ x 5-3/4″.  The smallest gold mat is 6-1/8″ x 4-1/8″.  My title piece was cut from a Variety Mat and is matted on a gold shimmer circle and a paper flower embellishment.  I hand-cut the ribbon pieces from Gold Shimmer Cardstock.

My last page is a reminder that two of my favorite collections from the last year are also being discontinued and are in limited supply.  I’ve made many baby and non-baby pages with both the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl and Baby Boy Collections.  But I love making pretty pages, and I just had to share this final baby page made with the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Papers and Embellishments.

I used the Custom Cutting System with the old Jumbo Circle Cutting Pattern to cut a hollow circle from brown cardstock.  Using the Original Border Maker System with the Sprout Cartridge, I cut two borders from brown cardstock.  Using the Cherry Blossom Punch and other flower punches, I created layered flowers from the pink designer paper.  My leaves were punched with the Maple Leaf Punch and old Leaf Trio Punch.  I used the Outdoor Adventure Quartet Punch to punch a single bird from black cardstock.  My photo is 7″ x 5″ and matted with brown cardstock.  To assemble, I recommend laying out all of the pieces first before you start to adhere.  You’ll have to cut the sprout borders in order to wind them around the circle.  I adhered all of the flowers, the bird and the title embellishments with Foam Squares.  You’ll notice that I also edged my flower pieces with a brown pen and used the brown pen to draw veins on the leaves and bark lines on the sprout borders and the large circle piece.  I also added a pen detail around the entire edge of the page.

More Woodland Whimsy Page Layouts

KarynCrops.wordpress.comCLSPJParty - Page 053Have I mentioned that I absolutely love the Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy and Baby Girl Collections from Creative Memories?  So far, I’ve used up two complete collections but haven’t yet scrapped a baby page!  I love the colors and prints – and of course the darling woodland creatures.

This first layout uses paper from both the Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy and Baby Girl Collections.  It also completes my Easter photos from last year.  If you scroll down to my blog post from April 5th, you’ll see my first Easter layout.  If you don’t have the heart cutting templates, you can substitute circles for an equally cute result.

KarynCrops.wordpress.comCLSPJParty2 - Page 043

  1. Cut two sheets of light beige paper to 11-1/2” x 11-1/2”. Using 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch, punch two corners on each page taking notice of direction of paper pattern.  The notched ends with be the four outside corners.  Cut out centers of two sheets of Evergreen Cardstock leaving at least a 1” frame on each side.  Adhere beige pieces to evergreen pieces.
  2. Use Custom Cutting System with old Heart Cutting Pattern or small Circle Cutting Pattern to cut 9 hearts/circles from white cardstock. Use red blade on the outside edge.
  3. From assortment of paper from both the Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy and Baby Girl Paper packs, cut 1” strips.  Adhere strips to the hearts/circles at a slight angle leaving 1/8” in-between strips.  Trim off excess with scissors.  Try to use the same angle on all pieces.  Add faux stitching as shown.  Cut two hearts/circles in half.
  4. Mat photos with Whimsy paper. My photos are 7”x5” and 3-1/4”x5”.
  5. Assemble page with hearts and photos.
  6. With pencil trace around the heart/circle template. Add faux stitching with black pen, and erase any remaining pencil marks.  Add journaling.
  7. Add arrow epoxy embellishments and die cut embellishments with Foam Squares.

My second layout shows how the Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy Collection can be used for outdoor photos.  The tags on this layout were made with CM’s new 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.  This layout and the one above were featured during the Pajama Party hosted by Creative Life Scrapbooking on April 28th.

KarynCrops.wordpress.comWoodlandWhimsyOutdoorPage

  1. Use two sheets of beige cardstock as the base of your pages.
  2. Cut two pieces of plaid patter to 12” x 1-1/4” and two pieces of orange paper to 12” x 1-1/2”. Cut two pieces of fox paper to 1” x 12” and two pieces of orange paper to 1-1/4” x 12”.  Layer pieces as shown and adhere to pages.
  3. Cut two pieces of orange paper to 6” x 8-3/4” and notch the outside corners of each piece with the 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch. Adhere to pages as shown
  4. Cut two photo mats from dark green paper to 4-1/4” x 4-1/4” and notch all corners with 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.
  5. Make 4 tag pieces from beige cardstock and orange paper. My orange pieces are 2-1/2” wide.  Notch corners and make holes with 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.
  6. Punch leaves with Leaf Trio Punch and adhere to pages with stickers. I used foam squares on the fox and orange mushroom stickers.
  7. Use brown pen to add detail.

My next page was recently featured during the May Page Sketch Challenge on the Creative Life Scrapbooking Facebook page.  It’s another fine example of how well the baby boy collection can be used for outdoor photos.  The borders on the top and bottom were punched with Creative Memories’ Original Border Maker System with Circle Weave Cartridge.

This last page was shared on the CM Blog during Creative Memories’ recent NSD Virtual Crop.  The banner was made with the Leaf Trio Punch and Decorative Trimmer from Creative Memories.  I have tons of hiking photos and look forward to scrapping more pages using the Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy Collection.

Spring Blog Hop

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster4

Hello and welcome to our Creative Life Scrapbooking’s Spring Blog Hop!  We’re so glad that you’re hopping with us today and hope that you’re getting inspired by what you see.

I’m absolutely in love with the new Woodland Whimsy Baby Boy and Baby Girl Collections from Creative Memories.  In fact, they might be my favorite collections yet.  Although they are being promoted as baby collections, the paper and some of the embellishments and stickers are neutral enough to be used for almost any kind of scrapbook page.  (Please visit my website to see the entire collection and purchase any of the items.)

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster5

Today I’m sharing an Easter layout and a Mother’s Day card that I created with the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Paper and Stickers and tools from Creative Memories.  As soon as I saw the colors in this collection, I knew that they would be perfect for last year’s Easter photos.  I’m a sucker for wood-grained or wood-paneled paper, and this collection has two gorgeous sheets with a deer motif.  Although not inherently Easter-inspiring, I just had to use this sheet for my layout.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster1

I love making pretty pages, and this layout has a lot of beautiful detail.  I enlarged the signature photo to 5″ x 7″ and drew further attention to it with a faux grapevine wreath cut from three shades of brown cardstock.  The fence-like border at the bottom ties the pages together and also brings some of the wood-paneled paper to the first page.  To create movement and more cohesion, I repeated the garden vine embellishments in three spots.  Lastly, the yellow daffodils made with our new Cherry Blossom Punch and Embossed Trio Button Punch add a final bright spring touch to the layout.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyEaster6

To make this layout, you’ll need:

Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Paper
Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Stickers
Woodland Whimsy Baby Embellishments
Watercolor Green ABC/123 Stickers
Yellow paper (I used yellow paper from the new CM Fur Buddies Paper Pack.)
Brown Cardstock in three shades
White and Evergreen Cardstock
Custom Cuttting System with old CM Jumbo Circle Pattern
Original Border Maker System with Lace Scallop Cartridge and Zig Zag Cartridge
Garden Vine Punch
Cherry Blossom Punch
Embossed Trio Button Punch
All-Purpose Scissors
Foam Squares
Tape Runner
Repositionable Tape Refill
Brown Dual-Tip Pen
(Please visit my website to purchase any of these items.)

  1.  Cut the deer paper to 7″ x 12″ and cut a sheet of the light green paper to 5.5″ x 12″.  Adhere the deer paper to the light green paper making sure to end up with a 12″ x 12″ piece.
  2. The borders were made with 1-1/2″ high strips of wood paper edged with layered cardstock and paper borders punched with the border maker system and zig zag cartridge.  From white cardstock, use border maker and lace scallop cartridge to punch borders and adhere the sticker strips.  Adhere this piece to the wood border with foam squares.
  3. Cut three hollow rings from the solid brown cardstock (I used three different shades.) using the old CM jumbo circle cutting pattern.  Use the green blade on the inside edge to cut first and without moving the cutting pattern, cut again with the red blade on the inside edge.
  4. Punch vines from the dark green paper and solid evergreen cardstock.  Layer the dark green pieces on top of the solid evergreen pieces.
  5. Make daffodils with the cherry blossom punch and embossed trio button punch.  Slightly fold the petals to give some dimension. Adhere the flowers with foam squares.
  6. Mat photos with a narrow white mat and a larger mat from peach plaid paper.
  7. Assemble page as shown and add pen detail and journaling.
  8. The arrow for my title is from the embellishment pack.  I adhered the bunny and mushroom stickers with foam squares.

For my second project, I made a Mother’s Day card from the same materials.  The basket card opens up to reveal a bookmark and a bouquet of paper flowers.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 058

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 059

My bookmark measures 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″.  I notched the ends and punched the hole with our new CM 4-Way Corner and Hole Punch.  The flower was made with our Cherry Blossom, Daisy and Embossed Trio Button Punches.  I adhered the flower and stickers with foam squares.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard - Page 057

To make the basket, cut a sheet of brown cardstock to 4-1/2″ x 12″ and fold in half to make a 4-1/2″ x 6″ piece.  Keeping the fold on the bottom, cut around the top part of the piece using our Custom Cutting System with the 4″ x 6″ oval pattern and blue blade on the outside edge.  Without moving the pattern, cut around the pattern with the red blade on the outside edge to make the handle of the basket.  With straight trimmer, cut across the top of the basket to reveal the handles as shown below.  Trim the sides of the piece if needed to match up the handles with the sides of the basket.

KarynCropsWoodlandWhimsyCard2

I embellished the front of my basket with a mat from the Woodland Whimsy Baby Girl Variety Mat Pack and paper flowers.  I added more flowers to the inside of the card as shown in the photo above.  This would make a cute Mother’s Day, Birthday, Shower or Graduation card.
